I Want Your Books!

I thought this thread might be helpful for people who dont want to be running around the campus trying to find individual books that they need. Maybe it might be useful to put up a list of books you need here and then anybody who has quite a few of those books could pm the person to offer those books at a certain price.

Here is a list of books that i want to buy: (2nd Year English and Soc Pol).

    English:
    Hamlet,
    Othello,
    Macbeth,
    The Merchant of Venice,
    Measure for Measure,
All’s Well that Ends Well and The Winter’s Tale,
Pamela (Oxford World’s Classics, 2008) ed,
    Romeo and Juliet,
    King Lear.

    Soc Pol
    K. Morrison, Marx, Durkheim, Weber: Formations of Modern Social Thought, 1995, Sage.
Anthony Giddens, Capitalism and Modern Social Theory, 1981, Cambridge University Press
John Bayliss and Steve Smith (eds.) 2005. The Globalization of World Politics, Oxford: OUP.
Brown, Chris, with Kirsten Ainley, 2005. Understanding International Relations, Houndsmills: Palgrave Macmillan.

If anyone has the bulk of the titles in either English or Soc Pol, i am willing to offer nice crisp notes to them for saving me the hassle of checking every bloody noticeboard in the college. It will also save you time having to sell those books individually.

If anyone has most of the books above, please PM and we can do a deal :)

Charlie Byrne's would probably sell a load of those English books cheaply as well.

There's very little need to buy books first hand any more I found. I bought a few books in my 4 years and watched as they gathered dust.

I've got the entire Mr Men Collection. Don't suppose you want that? :pac:

    Hi,
I know this is a section for books but my question is related..

I am looking for the CD rom which accompanies the the Spanish book Nexos.
I managed to get hold of the book second hand but unfortunately without the CD. It may be a very slim chance but if any of you have it I would be intersted.

    Gracias

Don't bother with it. Just use the Nutshell. Every lecturer claims they're no help but I I got a first for Constitutional with it (and had the same experience for every other subject that uses Nutshells).
They're excellent for giving a concise account of the most important issues.
Just add in some academic commentary from Westlaw and tutorial stuff and you'll be fine.

Hey there! Going into 2nd Year Civil Law in NUIG and need to buy text books for the following subjects:

    Administrative Law
    Company Law
    Criminal Law
    European Union Law

Any second hand copies for sale???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 Bootman

You don't need to buy the books! Just use library copies! Although most students will buy nutshells for company and concentrates for EU! Would defo recommend concentrates unless nutshells bring out a new edition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49 Aisinikins

Have some books from first year I meant to get rid of last year.

For Arts English I have copies of Oedipus, The Duchess of Malfi & Doctor Faustas. For the Contemporary Irish section of the plays module i have Modern and Contemporary Irish Drama by John Harrington. It has Juno & the Paycock and the weir which are examined. Good for getting ideas for essay writing.

For geography i have the NUIG edition of Foundations in Human Geography. Hardly ever used.

All books like new, barely used in first year and have been gathering dust in a bag for the past year. Drop me a PM if interested.

Might update this with a few other books from first year & second year later. Have to root them out first.

Those lecturers enjoy handing out noodles of lecture notes. A lot of the lecturers suggest books for extra reading but you don't really need them.Unless you are really stuck on a certain module or an assignment and need extra material, you probably wont need books.

If you have done chemistry before, Brown lemay etc is useless. There are also multiple copies in the library.
