Dual Band 802.11n router - a few questions

Hello

Can a dual band router support 2 simultaneous wifi networks? Hoping to have one for my older 802.11g devices and the other for newer, faster, 802.11n devices.

If not, would I just need to wire a new "n" capable router to my old Eircom Netopia Router to achieve the same thing?

I have a dual band router and it can support both a 5GHz (N) and a 2.4GHz (G) . So I'd imagine yours could aswell.

I have a Netgear dual band router wndr3700
which does exactly what you are looking for:

This model is sometimes referred to as the N600.

Also for anyone reading the thread just adding a wireless n router to say an older netopia will not accomplish what the op wants.

Yes I can run both networks at the same time. The N wireless at 5GHz @ 300mbits and the G @2.4GHz at 54mbits. I connect my N devices to the N and the G to the G wireless and all is good. I have the netgear N300 Btw

I have a dual band router which can run a different SSID on each band if you want. You can configure the 2.4 GHz network as b, g or n (20 MHz or 40 MHz). The 5 GHz network is always 802.11n but can accept 802.11a clients.

I have 802.11n disabled on 2.4 GHz though, any of my N devices go through the 5 GHz network.
