    Hi,

I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I developed this condition out of the blue, 6 months ago. One day, after a run on the treadmill , I broke out in a horrible rash from my neck down..its a very severe rash..starts off a raised red dots/bumps..these flatten out and get bigger before fading away after about 60-90 mins.

Any exercise triggers it- I cycle to work and when I arrive I break out in a rash. If I wash the car, I break out in a rash, it's really getting me down.

I am seeing a specialist for the last 6 months with no luck at all. The rash isnt itchy in the summer, but in the winter my legs get itchy.

The best way I can control it is go for a run before work and let the rash appear. When it goes , the histamine needs time to build up again, so I can then cycle to work with only a mild rash appearing, but by the time I cycle home at the end of the day, I will get another severe rash.

Does anyone here suffer from this? What do you find helps?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I get this all the time... although I've had it a while, I'm in my late 20's and I've had this since I was a teen. It's caused by your body heating up whether it's caused by exercise, stress or just hot weather. I also get it from drinking alcohol! All of the above are a factor for me. I've seen a consultant in immunology and have been told that I have chronic spontaneous urticaria & angioedema. I was prescribed the antihistamine Xyzal once a day and Telfast 180mg (one tab a day). These are called H-1 blockers. Basically they are supposed to block the histamine released which causes this rash/itch. This didn't control my symptoms so my own GP added a H-2 blocker called Ranitidine. Again this still doesn't control symptoms. Different things work for different people. An certain antihistamine might work for me but mightn't work for you. I've been told you have to try and test to see what your body responds to. If you just get this rash/itch from exercise you may just need to combine a few antihistamine to see what works. Some you can buy over the counter and others than can be prescribed for you by your GP. But I'm guessing you have been told this if you are seeing a specialist about your condition.
