B&Q have bog-standard fiberglass insulation rolls, €25 squid each but with 3 for 2 offer, about €17 a piece.
    Good specs on them, 200mm thick, 5.5 m2 area, R-value = 4.5 m2K/W.
    :)

any idea how long the offer is on

The staff didn't know exactly when I asked, most offers end today, but they said could run extra few days on the insulation

they also have rockwool in 100mm and 200mm thick rolls. not in 3 for 2 offer at €10 a roll.

That offer has been going for over a year with any of the knauf made insulation

An ex of mine once worked in my local one so I still know most of the people working there
and I've been told it's an ongoing offer, only thing that changes is which one they've stock of

I got a load of that one for the mothers house last year, very handy being pre-cut
I wouldn't touch rockwool, especially in an an enclosed space like an attic

    link to manufactures specs

its a brand of attic insulation. downside to it is that it is the itchy stuff unlike the b&q own brand rolls at €25.

u values are close enough too.

can that be used for the attic also, if so which one is better

The higher the R-Value the better the insulation
It's reccomended to have an R value of about 7 altogether so 200mm of insulation in top of your existing 100mm(what the builder puts in) should be enough

    Board Gais website info;

    Attic Insulation

It is generally accepted that a substantial amount of heat escapes through your attic. To help combat this, our Home Team can fit insulation that meets the SEAI's recommended depth of at least 300mm which will minimise any heat loss.

You can lose upto 30% of your homes heat through an uninsulated attic. quickest payback of installed measures, about 2 yrs payback on it depending on how cold the winter is and how much the bills keep increasing

Why not? Or do you mean fibreglass? Rockwool is not a carcinogen....
