Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sweet, a thread to confirm my desire to nuke that island.

    Big ups.

One of my favs of 2011 to date, cracking tune..

From seeing the queues for the Ibiza check-in desk at the airport, and all the photo albums of Facebook from people I've never seen in the Twisted Pepper/Pod/Kennedy's from Ibiza, I don't think I ever want to go.

Seems like an island full of people who aren't into dance music listening to bad dance music.

Id say if you went though you would have a top time it is still a magical place but having said the music has been pretty dire the last few years with the exception of some tunes, according to Ibiza Spotlight this is some of the top 10 this year, im struggling to find 2 tunes i like out of that list, that Eric Prydz remix of Depeche Mode classic tune Personal Jesus is particularly bad!!

Andre Lodemann - Where Are You Now

yeah that list sucks alright. my mates who have been are always sayin to me ya need to go man, you'd love it but, they don't really know their arse from their elbow when it comes to dance music. i'm not at all impressed with this sh1t and don't think i'll ever bother goin at this stage.

Ibiza is a great spot, there is something for everyone.

Carl Craig at Space , Sven Vath in Cocoon, Loco Dice live were some of the highlights for me this year.

How can you knock a place when you have never been there, thats just plain stupid, theres a wealth of music over there, maybe not so much Dub Step or DNB but most other genres.

I'd tend to agree with you there and the fact also remains you don't have to go over for the djs or music - hey, bring your own. It's a stunning place and has some fantastic beaches, restaurants etc etc etc

Well that's definitely true, I'll admit, its a beautiful island, but we're discussing it's as a holiday destination for people who like bad house music.

but we're discussing it's as a holiday destination for people who like bad house music.

A bit extreme. Granted it gets it's fair share of twats but name me a holiday destination that doesn't.

And Ibiza has music for everyone. Good, bad and everything in between.

What you rate as bad house music, someone else rates as quality. Tis all subjective

be interesting to know if the uk dubstep/ funky scene had any influence on ibiza this summer. i know pearson sound and a few others played at space or one of those big clubs... id say someone like julio bashmore would go down well there.

and what about bad D & B and Dubstep, listen man every genre even my beloved old skool has bad tunes and House is no different, House is so splintered thesedays you will always get different people into different styles, D & B is no different as is any genre of dance music (unfortunately) but there you go!!

But Ibiza is where unemployed northsiders go on holidays and no amount of foam is going to wash the smell of that crowd and no amount of aftershock will get the taste of Tallaght clunge out of me mouth.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,753 ✭✭✭davet82

What's with the negativity about holidaying in Ibiza (particularly from people that haven’t been)? I’ve been there a few times and I’ve always had a great time.

Where else would you guys suggest going on a ‘clubbing’ holiday?

you asked for clubbing holiday, not sunshine and clubbing holiday ;)

Besides, plenty of sunshine in Berlin during the summer

lol ok ok. A sunshine holiday then with large dance music events (just in case I get more clubbing seal posts) :p

I like city breaks and berlin is one i must try but I dont consider them holidays in the traditional sense, i'll be more careful in future :D
