Was out in my old mans there the other day trying to "fix" his computer. Opened firefox up to search for a solution to the "problem". Did my search and low and behold something I've not seen on my own computer in a long time. Adverts! Got me thinking that in my life of about 12 years on the internet I don't think I've ever actually clicked one. Who clicks these things and how do google actually make money? Needless to say I installed an ad blocker pretty quickly.

So my question is who ever clicks on these adverts and generates the revenue? Internet noobs? My Dad? My Ma? So people of AH. Have you ever clicked an internet advert. What was it like? Did you learn anything? Did the pills give you a bigger willy? Did you learn about the loophole in the female psychology. And what are the three words that make her want to **** instantly? I need enlightenment.

I never do, but some people must. I have Google AdSense on a YouTube video of mine and I'm paid per click on the adverts and I've earned €70+ in the last while...

I've clicked on the 'Sponsored Results' in google search a few times if they seem to match what I'm searching for. NEver had a bad experience with that.

Also, I've click on a few ads around websites. Normally for stuff I'm interested in not obvious scams. Like lets say an ad for a band I like or an ad for a movie thats coming out. Stuff like that.

I remember my first expierence of clicking on an adverts resulted in the mother of all pop ups .Of course this was the innocent days before anti virus programmes became the norm .:pac:

I do remember back in the days of downloading roms perfectly legitimate purchasing of online ports of N64 games, some of the websites would be full of porn banners, and I clicked one out of curiosity by accident one day. Closing one popup led to 5 others and before you knew it you were in a labyrinth of the internet's underbelly.

    I was disgusted*.

*because most of them were paysites and you had to actually pay to see the boobies

I click on them all the time. They're a huge source of entertainment! My personal favourite: Have your credit card details been stolen on the internet? Enter them below to find out.

I've got two different ad/pop-up blockers running simultaneously so I never see any ads at all.

Sometimes accidentally then I stay awake all night worrying that I've inadvertently given encouragement to those that post up these adverts. Then there's the spam. Jesus Christ there are some people out there that are just the dregs - some sort of waste by-product that resembles human beings. Absolute scum.

Of course, without adverts/popups, the excuse "It was a popup" wouldn't be there. I think Google/website owners make(s) money from ad views as well as ad clicks.

"Pop-Unders", in particular on a file sharing site I've used a few times recently (think it was RapidShare or MultiUpload or something), seem to evade pop-up blockers, though.

Megaupload and the such like where one can download music unsigned bands covers have awful ads that not even my built in ad blocker and ABP can handle.

The traumatic instant as a child using my mothers laptop in the fledgling days of the internet, accidently clicking an ad and having the screen fill up with popups. I though I'd broken the damn thing! :pac:

Boards.ie places its adverts (if you haven't blocked them) down on the bottom right hand side of the screen where there are also a number of thread tools/ icons and sometimes I click there by accident.

Knowing that people will accidentally click them is, presumably, the reason they're in that location, because if you only wanted maximum visual exposure, they'd be somewhere at the top of the page.

I once saw an advert for a company which was owned by someone i didn't like. It felt good to know that i had just cost them money.
