Contents of car robbed, what can be claimed back?

Friend of mine had their car window smashed and a bag and smartphone(expensive one) were robbed, they're fully comped so i'm just wondering if they can claim back for the contents? Thanks.

Depends on their individual policy. It's not standard across the board.

They need to check their insurance policy. It varys as unclebill98 says.
