Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can anyone recomend me anything good on the Free State Army? General history and also anything about the transfer from the British; personnel, equipment, organisation.
I have an itch to learn something about it and don't know where to start.
    The more the better.

A couple from my library which I’m sure might be of interest.

    (1) “The fall of Dublin” by Liz Gillis. Just covers and gives excellent details of the first few days of the civil war in Dublin. It mentions National army troops been arrested for refusing to hand over supplies to other National army troops because they were in the company of British officers. Some new information in it is from surviving family members (including the Cathal Brugha family) so it’s a must book for you.

    (2) “Irish army vehicles (transport & armour since 1922) by Karl Martin 2002, ISBN 0954341309. Covers the vehicles of the Irish army with lots of teck data and photos, excellent for research & reference, although difficult to come by for sale these days, it is stocked by a lot of Irish library’s.
