Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

GHD Alternatives

My GHD nearly killed me last night  There was a terrible smell of burning, a couple of sparks and they died a death. I'm still here in one piece thank goodness. I've looked on the GHD website there are lots of lovely coloured ones, and at a good price, but I'm going on holiday soon and I don't think I'd have them by the time I go. As such, I'm planning to go into Boots after work and pick up a pair that are decent and will be tied me over until I get more GHD. Can any of you lovely people recommend an alternative (and cheaper) brand that you use and find good? Thanks a mill :)

    Beware of FAKE websites.

If you go onto the real GHD website there's a place where you can type in your GHD code and see if it's real.. Sounds me like yours were fake. I understand that GHDs are not the most cheapest price but don't bother with fakes it's not worth it if they got fire or hurt you.

One of the best set I've ever had was Nicky Clarke. I'd recommend them to anyone.. if my GHDs broke in the morning I'd go and buy a set straight away. They range from 20 quid up to 80 quid in Argos.

I do a bit of work for a shop that used to sell GHD's. Nothing but bother TBH. More came back with problems and had to be sent away to get fixed. Try another brand. GHD's are not all they are cracked up to be and yes there are hundreds of fake websites that will gladly take your money

Brilliant, they look great. Shall be nipping into Argos after work!

I had a certificate for my GHD when I got them years ago from Peter Marks. I must have them maybe six or seven years so I think just good old-fashioned over use.

Will def get the Nicky Clarke ones, there seems to be a good selection to choose from, cheers x

I've been using this remington one and find it just as good as ghd. THink once they have ceramic plates and a temp guage they'd be fine. Try to get one that has a kind of curve a the edge. Some of the cheaper ones don't and they give you that weird line in your hair.

This place is excellent for GHD repairs if there still may be some life in your old one http://mastercare.ie/

And this place does alternatives that are as good as the real thing but much cheaper http://www.terrisales.ie/2010a/city.htm

I have the Nicky Clarke Hair Therapy straightener and find it fantastic.

I got in Boots for around €25 (plus student discount).
