    Hi Lads,

Looking for a recommendation on a yellow, reflective, waterproof cycling jacket.

Only doing short distances, 5-10km in the morning & 20-30km over the weekend.

    Price range up to 70max

    Thanks in advance

    Kevin

Have a look on wiggle, I got one of their dhb jackets and it fits your price range and needs.

It's heavy though, very good for the winter, not to be worn on a spring morning that starts off rainy and ends up in sunshine! I was baking one morning and seriously contemplating throwing it in a ditch and coming back in the car for it. It's also a just a little bulky to fit well in your rear pocket.

    Hi,

Thanks for the info., the DHB jacket sounds a bit too heavy for the short runs I'm doing, that one off the list!

    Thanks

I got the Altura Night Vision Evo Waterproof Jacket - great jacket - highly visible and warm while being light.

Yellow waterproof jackets make you wet from the inside.

I have a Karrimor reflective rain jacket that I bought cheaply off ebay. I'm impressed with how breathable it is. You won't sweat underneath it. Its light and easy to store in a pocket too.

Not sure how good it is, but I just bought one of these from SportsDirect at the weekend during their free shipping offer. I am only starting out so it will either be a 'good enough' purchase or a 'newbie' mistake. Worth a punt though...I think/hope. :o

Got a windproof jacket in Lidl last year for commuting. It's not fully waterproof but does keep showers off, it's warm and was cheap . Wore it on the bike during the bad weather last winter and didn't feel too cold. Don't go for a fully waterproof jacket if it's to be used everyday as it's going to make you sweat.

Tbh, a heavier jacket is more suitable over short runs. A light jacket is good for long runs where it keeps the harsh stuff out, but you can rely on your body to warm you up.
But if you're not on the bike for very long, you'll be cold to begin with and you won't warm up properly by the time you step off the bike. Particularly on your 5- 10km runs in the morning, you will be utterly frozen for at least 5km when December comes around. This is where a heavier jacket comes in.

That said, I bought one of these a few weeks back:

It's very lightweight, but I can see it being utterly suitable for winter if worn over a good winter jersey. Although it says relaxed fit, if you're hmming and hawing about being between sizes, go for the bigger one. Chest size is the most important measurement. Mine is very snug.

    Hi Lads,

Really appreciate all the helpful replies. I'll mull it all over & pull the trigger on a jacket soon & put a review up.

    Thanks

I'll second (third?) the recommendation for that altura jacket, its also quite breathable considering how warm it does keep you if you need it to
