The last four songs were tacked onto that release and weren't part of the original soundtrack. The original album ended with Hello Goodbye.

And Blue Jay Way is sh¡t in anyone's book...

I suppose it'll really get your goat, then, if I suggest Primal Scream's Vanishing Point, an imagined soundtrack, but a soundtrack all the same.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly - Ennio Morricone (Or anything by EM, This man is a fcuking genius)

    Requiem for a Dream

Goodfellas (I think its all well and good just selecting good songs for a soundtrack, but Goodfellas is the perfect example of songs being executed brilliantly in a movie. Genius by Scorsese)

    Fight Club's soundtrack is sick!

  • Registered Users Posts: 184 ✭✭The House Of Wolves

I personally loved the Harry Potter p1 soundtrack.
Romeo + Juilet was a good one too, as was Once.

Hot Press did an article on this a while back, which I can't find anywhere. I have the magazine somewhere, I'll dig it up later.

    Here's a RARE one; Pink Floyd's soundtrack to the 1969 movie "More";

This is the entire 46 minutes.

Lord of War :) Easily Nic Cage's finest performance Im not a big fan of his but he is outstanding in this, stunning piece of movie making with an equally stunning soundtrack main score by Antonio Pinto. Film is based on a true story if you havent seen it is well worth checking out a real eye opener, incredibly good film:)

"Best Soundtrack Of All Time" is sort of like "Best Musical Style" of all time - rather personal and subjective. There are a lot of great ones listed here. I like O Brother Where Art Thou, Inception, The King's Speech, and countless others....maybe favorite is more accurate than "best."

While it's not my favorite, I thought the soundtrack for Blade Runner had a very dreamy, vibey feel.

I've attached Hotpress's article on their top film soundtracks - sorry about it being cut off, just lobbed it in the scanner and went off to do other things :P

I defo agree with some of their choices, others I haven't heard.

My favourite film composer is Bernard Hermann, and I think his greatest works are Taxi Driver, Vertigo and Psycho. Unfortunately music like that does not appear very often in movies anymore.

romeo&juliet and the good, the bad and the ugly

I love at the start of a Metallica gig when they play Ecstacy of Gold!

Kill Bill Vol1 was pretty cool too, they used a lot of Morricone samples for the soundtrack

I think Cameron Crowe generally has great soundtracks in his movies.

    Jerry Maguire
    Almost Famous
    Vanilla Sky

All very decent soundtracks. I think he gets the honour of being the first director to use Sigur Ros songs in a movie.

I would also give a thumbs up to the soundtrack of Philadelphia. Two amazing original tracks from Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. That director was spoilt!

I cant belive no ones said it yet. Top Gun. :)

Pure cheese but brilliant all the same suit the film to a tee.

Also it been a while since I watched it but remember True Romance having a cool soundtrack.

Does it have to be a film?

Cause if not, then GTA:Vice City. Without doubt, in my opinion, the best soundtrack ever. :)

I've seen Clint Mansell mentioned in a previous post but no mention of his soundtrack for Moon. I remember watching this film and being mesmerised by the music as much as the actual film. He really captured the sense of isolation and empathy which drives the film.

Paris, Texas is another brilliant soundtrack. Ry Cooder just nailed it.

Rocky Horror Picture Show has a great original soundtrack, great if you love that rock 'n' roll revival stuff.

Blues Brothers is also cracking in a similar vein.
