    No, no investigation.

There is no proof that they did throw the game so they should be reinstated, sadly.

Precedent really doesn't bother me. The next time a team cheats in some way their opponents can be advanced so long as they didn't throw the game for betting purposes. Context is everything.

Shels being allowed to continue in this competition would be an utter disgrace, and much more farcical than Limerick being advanced to a semi - final.
Jesus, I sure hope you don't get put on jury duty.

Well if I ended up on Jury duty for a case where a couple of personal contacts had reliably informed me that the defendant was guilty (and were even able to explain to me in detail how it was done) I would be the dude from Twelve Angry Men, yes.

Which means you should probably abstain from discussion about how things should be dealt with fairly in the real world then.

lol Shels fans. Seriously, ask around at the next game and do a bit of digging. This isn't the real world because - as Des admitted above - the last time Shels players were involved in this type of incident the FAI didn't launch any manner of investigation. Simply put, this type of thing gets swept under the carpet by a feckless organisation that don't have the will or resources to tackle the issue (just like everything else to do with the LOI).

Again, I'm not for one second suggesting that your club on an administrative level was involved, or that other teams haven't been involved in similar incidents down through the years. It is far too common.

Shels continuing in this year's iteration of the tournament would be a blight upon it.

Anyway, I'm done. You may have the last word and continue to stick your hands over your ears and shout 'la, la, la' all you like.

Nobody is saying it definitely didn't happen. What people are saying is that there is no proof that it DID happen and without that proof you can't go kicking teams out of tournaments, and it is ridiculous that one is proposing that this should be done. Find some proof that this did happen, and then punish the players. Even if it turns out a few players did do this, we still don't get thrown out of the cup.

Was there an FAI inquiry on that occasion?

There would never be any footballer in the world be stupid enough to back their team to win or lose, they get mates, etc... to do it.

Wasn't there some Pats player that done it though a while back and got banned from football in a one off incident? Could be completely off mind you.

Dempsey was it? €20 on a double with Galway (or someone) and Man City I think, when he wasn't even on the bench.

Got dragged out for ages, ridiculous carry on (though he was rather moronic to place the bet himself).

Two words for you, Prove it? Nothing was proved the last time nor this time, rumours spread like wild fire and all it takes is one or two people, although I believe on both occassions they was sussy going ons but I'm assured this time by a player that nothing happened.

As said before, I hope you never go on jury duty. Innocent till proven gulity is what happens in Ireland.

So a Shels appeal is to be made. Does anyone know when we can expect to hear the outcome? Will it take as long as it did to get this far? Or will it be a case of "you feel hard done by? fair enough, you've Limerick in two weeks. Good luck,"

I can't decide between preferring Shels be reinstated and playing Cork or Pats...either will do fine. There'll be bitter lemons everywhere either way :pac:

    Don't buy this at all.

If you're fixing a game, you don't go 2-0 up and then hope the opposition scores 3 screamers!

As for the penalty, if you analysed most penalties that miss the target, you could argue the miss was deliberate. It was just an awful peno - happens all the time. If he'd missed it deliberately he would 100% have made more of an act of holding his head in his hands, etc.

There was definitely a fair amount of money won in the bookies, but that instigated on the Sheriff side, because the odds were well over-priced - everyone involved with Sheriff took the 11/1 odds and told all their friends to have a go.

It was Gary Dempsey. As far as I remember he was on the bench. It was while Kenna was in charge of Pats and we beat them about 5 times in a row.
