    Quick question. Can one go to a bank your not actually with and ask for a personal loan, supplying statements from your actual bank? Always here people told to 'shop around' for best rates but wondered would they take you on if you weren't a customer?

    It's possible.

    They have procedures to follow and will require more information than an account holder.

    They could ask/offer to open an account with them and switch your banking to them if they offer such a service etc.
