I've tried to buy computer parts from amazon.com because the exchange rates with the the dollar and euro make everything a lot cheaper. Problem is, when buying directly from amazon the wont ship it but some of the independent stores that work through amazon do ship to Ireland.

anyway I was just wondering if it was a good idea to buy from these stores or merchants and if anybody had any experience with them

oh lord don't do that. you'll get charged customs and import duty, as well as a handeling charge. it'll work out much more expensive.

amazon.co.uk on the other hand are alright for a few items. You can get free postage when ordering from amazon.co.uk directly (not other sellers) on orders above £25.
It doesn't work out so well with large orders as specialists give better prices when shipping costs are spread and offer larger selections.

I recommend scan.co.uk and hardwareversand.de for full system orders.

I love amazon, and while you will get a better deal at other places on specific items amazon are by far the best customer service out of any site I have used. Shipping is lightning fast too!

I also got a better deal on my order on amazon then I did on HWVs (cpu mobo and PSU) came to a tenner cheaper for a amd phenom 965 BE, modular PSU and a am3+ mobo. With free shipping and WAY faster turn around time. Also it was a tenner cheaper for a better mobo (am3+ and other things) and better psu (80+bronze modular 600w vs 550w non 80+ non modular)

amazon.de is always worth a look at. shipping times will be a bit longer than the UK but sometimes significantly cheaper. mobile phones are very very cheap from them.

Bought my new PC from Amazon.de because I wanted to pay with card and HWVS didn't have the graphics card I wanted in stock. They worked out to only be about 30 or 40 euro more than HWVS which is grand considering i would have had to pay that to use paypal with them. Shipping took about a week.
