Cost of a Structural Engineer (Attic Conversion)

Looking to get a structural engineer to look at our attic structure prior to conversion to validate what is needed, and advise on grade of steel needed for RSJs (pretty sure 2 RSJs will be needed)

It will be a self build, so we are really just looking for a review of the attic and to be told what supports are needed to take the load of the roof and new floor to comply with building regulations.

I've been quoted €1,700 + vat, so €2,057 for that. I'm wondering if this is in the ballpark for such a job or is it a bit excessive.
