Netbeans website down?

    was recently doing a fresh install of netbeans... and .... it seems to be down.

    The site www.netbeans.com is up but the netbeans.org download section seems to time out.

    according to downforeveryoneorjustme.com it is not down but maybe its country wide as opposed to worldwide?

    look foreward to seeing if its me being a dumbass or actually down!

    Hmmm, both are down for me.

    What's strange is that it doesn't seem to be the servers are down, it's a DNS issue. I can't get an IP returned for either address (.org or .com) from any DNS service.

    Bingo, found an ip for netbeans.org cached somewhere on the interweb. Click on this and you should be able to get your download:

    http://192.9.164.101/

    I just did a couple of nslookups against the oracle DNS servers using this site:

    http://www.kloth.net/services/nslookup.php

    Most of them seem to be fine and will return the IP above for netbeans.org (e.g. NS4.ORACLE.COM is OK). NS14.ORACLE.COM and NS13.ORACLE.COM are down though it seems, and most whois services list these as the nameservers for netbeans.org. That's propably the root of the problem. I'm surprised the DNS system is failing so easily though, in theory it shouldn't.

    To get at the downloads, go here:

    Pick the bundle you want and you'll end up on a page where it'll say server not found, because your browser wont be able to get an IP for download.netbeans.org. The download link you need will be in the address bar at the top though. Paste: 'dlc.sun.com' in place of download.netbeans.org in the address and your download should start.
