I can't think of a place that will refuse your pets if you sit outside at the terrace though ... I don't think Moran's would accept a dog in the restaurant part though.

I can unfortunately.. The Waterside Hotel in Donabate; very Nazi about it: huge beautiful decked terrace overlooking the bay & beach... You have to tie your dog to the outside side of rhe cliff path walk to be able to sit on the terrace :( Very NO Dogs.
Great food and location thou :( big pity!!

Well; only with a dog!!!! Their bar food is really tasty and the staff are really nice and helpful; but they must have had a big problem or issue at some stage cos any of them would compete with A rocket Launcher for the speed they sprint out to tell you sorry no dogs on the terrace... It's quite out of character for them. This is the place that will send a bus to pick you up and drop you home for free so you can a few pints...( I know I know!!!) just sayin!!!

We've booked a stay in Kinnitty Castle and are thinking of bringing our dogs along as they have kennels on the grounds for €10 a night. It's not 100% ideal but we're figuring we'll bring the dogs and spend the days walking with them with a packed lunch and leave them in the kennels at night. If we leave them in the kennels for a half hour or so when we arrive and then go get them, they hopefully won't be long in figuring out that we are nearby and they haven't been abandoned for long. And after a day's walking they should be tired enough to sleep instead of being upset.

I'm never ruff on people who bring their dogs into my shop but then there's nothing edible in it.

Ok. Sorry; I'm being a bit negative and this thread is supposed to be helpful!

    To help!
In my experience Here are some great locations for well behaved dogs on leads.
Terrace of It's A Bagel; Malahide. Gorgeous location, great bagels, dog welcoming, biggreen couches, covered for if it rains. Not really waitress service but very helpful.

Cafe Provence; Malahide; outside. LOVE dogs, will bring waterto your pooch and a little petchat! Real meals not just samb Os! Outside, no shelter if it rains!

Clontarf; 1014. Outside. No shelter for rain but a suntrap. Proper restaurant; fabulous food, great coffee and delicious deserts (e6). Welcome dogs and you! All profits from this restaurant go to charity so it's a little gem! On the seafront beside the turn for the bull island.

Howth. Beshoffs cafe on the pier; great coffees and all of the hill if Howth to run about on.

Sweetshop/ Sells take away fab Coffee at the end of the "prom" pier in howth; also has running fresh water for dogs and deckchairs outside to sit down when you re knackered post walk and enjoy the view/ ice-cream/ tea. very did chatty owner and delicious cappuccinos!!!

    : )
In fairness, you are just saying you can sit outside a place wth your dog :)
Te only place I haven't been on your list is itasabagel, the rest ar just car parks or paths that have a chair or two. They arent suitable for letting a dog off a lead to play.
I don't mean to whinge, but if someone brings their dog to one of these places expecting a safe environment for their dog they might be let down.

Anybody know of a dog friendly cafe or beer garden in or around Kildare and wicklow border. Or Naas, Kilcullen, Ballymore and surrounding areas?

If not - would people genuinely think that customers might travel? I've been thinking about it for ages, Is there anywhere to cater for dogs and their people. Have been considering looking into a dog socialisation area, with tea, coffee and simple snack facilities for their owners. The idea being that you can let your dog socialise (under trainer supervision) while you have lunch, or you'd be welcome to bring the dog in with you while you have lunch. I've not even considered the financials of it at all, just as a general concept, would it be a good idea?

YES!!! I long for this kind of place. And if you could open it in Monivea I would be eternally grateful and drink lots of coffee!!!

Dingle: www.pax-house.com - absolutely brilliant B&B. Dogs in bedroom, big lawn outside.
Baltimore: www.waterfronthotel.ie - lovely little hotel, very good for dogs, allowed in bedroom and plenty of room around village for exercise. Some of the pubs in Baltimore allow dogs inside too.
Bushmills: www.stayatseaview.com - average B&B, dogs allowed in bedroom, and on lead in garden.
Beddgelert, Snowdonia: www.royalgoathotel.co.uk - 3* hotel, very welcoming for dogs, allowed in bedroom.

there's a little place just as you drive onto Bettystown Beach called Bistro BT. There's an open terrace overlooking the beach and a conservatory area for inclement weather. Both areas are completely welcome to dogs with a big notice at the entrance to say so!

Just wanted to say thanks for the above tip. We went up there earlier with our two Golden Retrievers and had some lunch in the conservatory with treats and water bowls supplied for the dogs.

Was really enjoyable despite the weather! :)

Another one I forgot about earlier!
    In beautiful Killary Harbour/Leenane: www.leenanehotel.com

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could recommend a Pet Friendly hotel in Sligo...apart from Markree Castle, nice place, but very very dear. And by Pet friendly, we mean a place we can actually bring the old dog INTO the hotel!!:D

    Thanks, Paul

I find the difference is that the dogs are made feel so welcome, not just tolerated!

Yup this is true, we got seated then handed our menus and while we were deciding what to have the dogs got brought the water and treats without our saying a word :)

It was a really nice change and we'll be back regularly as it's a great spot after walking them on the beach!

! In none if these places can you let your dogs off the leash to play yes: that's right! They are restaurants!!!
But these places are not car parks! How did you ever think that!?
They are all proper cafe s or restaurants with enclosed tables in cafe/ restaurant areas!
I really didn't expect people to be looking for restaurants where you can your dog run free!? And to be honest; I wouldn't eat in a restaurant where people would bring their let's and let them roam amongst tables free. Maybe it's with that fear that's why so many places dint allow them. You re lucky with H& S to get a well behaved dog in on a leash.
    !!!

There are 2 seats outside mauds on the path and beshoffs is the same.
1014 has a couple of seats in the car park out the front. None are enclosed that I know of or maybe I am thinking of somewhere else? Maids has a fence on 2 sides is the closest but it's pretty small and I would usually just sit on the wall across the road with the grass and sun

Im reallynot having a go, I just thought you were overselling them a bit :)

Ok; I understand your point; but we are talking about places that will accept your dog; that is what I am providing. I'm not taking it as thou you re having a go at me ! :). All of the places I mentioned have enclosed ; ie private fully surrounded areas. They are not car parks, and are privately owned. You mentioned Mauds; an icrecream parlour for children I did not post this place as being dog friendly nor would I recommend it to sit at ( thou their icecreams are DELICIOUS ) : it is full of icrcream covered children and is beside a pedestrian crossing on a main road. Beshoffs ; there are two in Howth; maybe you are thinking of te one on the main drag?! The one with the cafe and restaurant provides blankets for you to sit outside with, bowls for your dog and if yourdogg is on a leash and well behaved they will let you sit inside at the bar.

None of the places I recommend let dogs run free; you d probably need to be somewhere super tolerant and far far away from Dublin to have that!!!( or at your Granny's!!) best of luck. : )

I'm not getting into mud slinging on this site; I am sharing some of the lovely places I have experienced for others to also enjoy.

The Beach House at the harbour in Greystones is now dog friendly. I noticed they have some picnic tables outside in their lovely beer garden with paws on them! They provide dog bowls for water and on the tables they have special clips to attach your dog lead to. I saw someone's dog looking very happy there, and so did the owner eating lobster and having a pint!

I find the aran islands to be very dog friendly. I was on the small island inis oirr with my dog a few weeks ago. We sat outside most of the places because it was such a nice day but when we went into the pub restaurant that evening I was allowed bring in my dog who's not small and they gave her a baby dinner!
It's a very chilled out place in general and there were loads of dogs on and off leash with their owners.

Hilton Hotel in Belfast is dog friendly (maybe all Hiltons are?)

No extra charge to keep our dog in the room with us. Walked him through the lobby but we weren't allowed to have him in the bar with us.

He loved the sausages we took from the breakfast buffet for him!

Edit: Think your pet has to be under a certain size but we did not have to show health cert or anything like that

They wouldn't allow us in with the dogs last summer but maybe they've changed their policy?
