I use Imageshack as it gives you the option to "resize" your images. The 640 x 480 (for message boards) option is the best one for here.Copy the "direct link" into the insertimagee.gifon the bar above your posting section and it should be fine.

Yes, click on share and a box will drop down with a code in it. Copy and paste the code and voilà.

Bobby is a pet who has never worked a day in his life, but he occasionally likes to pretend he's a real sheepdog!

Most computers should have Microsoft Picture Manager or something similar

Find the pic on your computer, right click and go to the option that says 'open with' and choose Microsoft Picture Manager. This will open the picture in the program.

Now click on edit picture at the top of the screen and a menu will pop up at the right hand side of the screen. Choose resize (so you don't end up with a huge photo). The percentage box is best to use and you can play with it until you get the picture to something around 500 x 400 pixels which is a good size to put in a post.

Save this under a new name (you will still have the old photo).

In your post click on the paperclip button and browse to find your pic and 'upload' it to your post and click on submit message as normal.

Now the sneeky bit. Click on the link to your picture after you have posted it, this should bring it up in a new window. Copy the address the (http://www.boards.ie/etc.....) bit.

Go in and edit your post - click on the button that look like a picture - (mountains and the sun). In the little box that pops up right click and paste in the address that you have copied. and submit your post again.

The link will still be there but your pic will also be imbedded in the post. Don't try to remove the attachment again or the pic will disappear.

If it all goes a bit belly up, don't worry about it. I can always save the pic on my computer, resize and edit it back into your post for you, as long as the attachment is there. I'll just need your permission to steal your picture.

It's not the long way if you have to open an account on an online photo storage site. Lots of people would rather upload directly from their own computer. The instructions are detailed, it takes a few seconds in real time and you don't have to wait a lifetime for photos to upload to a third party site. For those with mobile broadband in poor reception areas it can literally take 4 hours to upload one pic to either photobucket or image shack. ;)

Brill thanks, great to know how to do it directly from the computer.

Now if you can tell me how to turn a link into text I'd be a happy camper. :D

I promised myself I would give any votes yet cause it's too early. It's requiring much more restraint than I thought!
