    Hi,

Can you tell me if I got a wonky product or if I wired it in Arseways...:pac:

Bought this from B&Q to replace my existing one that got damaged in the hard frost last winter (the lense cracked and broke into bits)
    Sensor_1.jpg

    In situ.......

    Sensor3.jpg

    and how its wired in........

    sensor2.jpg

The problem is that when it sense's something, it turns on the light, but only for 3 seconds or so, and then it goes off.....

I've the timer setting set to the max and the dusk setting set to the min for nighttime.......

anyone shed any light on this for me?

    Thanks,

    MM

Are you sure the time setting is to the max, and not the min?

double check the live feed in is connected to the brown wire on the sensor

also some detectors automatically go to a test period for a time when first turned on
just turn it on and stay out of the way for 3 mins

any chance of pic of timer and photocell adjuster

yeah, i directly copied how the old one was wired, so the live feed should be right.

I'll take a pic of the timer and photocell adjuster, and post it up, as suggested. Thanks.

    its switched to night time
and set to operate about 5 mins according to pic

    turn dial to sun
    turn timer to minimum
    this should allow system test

if it operates fine reset dials to current position

if it does not operate correctly it may be worth swapping the brown wires over in the sensor(make sure power is off)

ok, did that, still not working, just putting the light on for a second - then off again. i'll swap over the brown wires tomorrow when the house is empty so minimal fuss when powering down the house.

will report back, thanks for the help so far.:pac:

If it is turning on for 3 seconds, then off, then on again for 3 seconds when it senses somthing again, then its unlikely the 2 browns are wrong. But ye never know.

I exchanged stuff in BnQ before when I had lost the reciept, the manager was quite understanding about the matter and I got some painting equipment in exchange for a crappy light fitting that was broken from the word go.

The manager couldnt give me a propper refund,as it was a card transaction, and I had lost the reciept,so I just got painting stuff to the same value.
