    Hey everyone,

Hope it's ok to post this here.

I've been picked as one of 26 people across Ireland to take part in the Spar Spartan Challenge. Each runner represents their County. So I get the honour of running for Sligo.

The challenge itself involves me training for 4 months for my first marathon. The marathon we're training for is the Dublin marathon on October 31st. The challenge is also in partnership with a group called the 3T's (Turning The Tide against suicide), and while it doesn't involve any direct fundraising, I am trying to raise awareness for the group.

There website can be viewed here, http://www.3ts.ie/about.htm

Anyone interested on keeping an eye on how the challenge is progressing can do so here, http://spartan.spar.ie/

The overall winner of the challenge will be picked on the person with the most dedication to training, overall improvement and votes received from the public.

Now hopefully after reading this some of you may spare a minute to give me your vote, you can view my personal page, which I update with all the training runs 2/3 times a week.

To vote you just need to click the blue vote button beside my name (Eamon Towey), unfortunately you need to be a facebook user to vote. But for those of you that aren't well I'm hoping at least I've done a small part in raising some awareness for the 3T's

My own profile can be viewed here, and you can vote too.

Please feel free to comment on any of the blogs. I can't express how much being part of this challenge means to me as for 4 years I couldn't run due to muscular problems in my lower legs. But two operations later and it's all going good so far.

If you wish feel free to add me as a friend on facebook, http://www.facebook.com/eamon.towey

Thanks for taking the time to read this, to date I've received over 1300 votes and I'm fairly sure some of the people reading this will have been some of those 1300. Honestly can't thank everyone enough, it's massive encouragement to keep on running:)

Regarding the injury I had, well here's a link to a blog that explains it some more. It also contains a link to some pictures, one in particular will stand out a mile, the surgeon took the picture in question!!!!
