Elusive African Golden Cat Filmed

The African Golden Cat (Profelis aurata) is one of the least understood carnivores in Africa; it is only seen very rarely despite being the second largest cat in African rainforests (after the leopard), measuring up to 50 cms tall and 1.5 meters long. Locally, it is known as "the leopards brother", but the leopard is known to prey on Golden Cats. On the other hand, in places where leopards are scarce or have been hunted to extinction, Golden Cats are numerous and take over as top predators.
