Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    lads

started a new job in ballinteer and will be here for the year. the way it works out is that i have a half day on wens and fri so will be looking to get out on these days. anybody have any nice routes mapped out at around the 30-40 mile mark, preferably with a few climbs. nothing too steep as im only looking to keep base over the winter. cheers.

ps-the roads seem quite busy around here, so a quite route would be nice-if thats possible!

yeah from ballinteer you're very quickly up either to foxes or the viewing point and from then you can loop around, or go down to firhouse/the lakes - plenty of choice from there. It's about 50km from ballinteer to sally gap crossroads and back

My choice for a quiet route would be Ballinteer->Marley Park, take a right down the hill and left up past Whitechurch and under the M50, Cruagh road, Sallygap and loads of choices from there (Lough Tay, Laragh, Blessington, etc...) Again on traffic avoidance, if you're coming back through Lough Tay or Roundwood, the old long hill / Ballinstoe is quieter and more scenic than than main Roundwood Kilmac road.

Shorter options are to turn off before the sally gap at either Glencree just after for Powerscourt.

Another nice one is to head towards Kilbride, but turn off at the first right after the bridge towards Kilbride rifle range, Seefin and Seahan. You can come back via the Bohernabreena road, or if you change your mind about evil climbs, come back up to the military road via Cunard / Grassamucky. Note these L-roads can be a bit torn up at times.

Cruagh - Johnnie Foxes and back via the blue light is a lovely lunch time spin from Balinteer, and quite quick.
