Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i'm doing my family tree at the moment and i have being look for one of my great granaunt's.
I was having no luck until yesterday, when one of my uncle remember something.
he remember that the lady had die in the late 1930 or early 1940 in care.
he was around 10 at the time.
He used the Term "County Home".

But i can not find anything for term.
i was wondering if anyone could help me with what that would be.
and if there any list of people in care??

The 'County Home' in Tullamore was on the Arden Rd close to where Riada House and HSE offices are now on the left hand side passed the Kilbeggan Bridge. Most people in Tullamore would remember it as it was demolished in the early 70's I think. I remember it myself vaguely ( a horrible big dreary building ) I could be talking rubbish but I think before it got the nice name of 'County Home' it was the 'Poorhouse' The name 'County Home' got changed to 'Riada House' but I stand to be corrected.

A death cert can be got across the road in the HSE HQ. The Registrar may be able to advise you on where to look.

    Hope this helps.
