Archos 42000 Dvr Station ?

hello, i recently did a clear out of a friends house and came acroos an archos 4200 dvr station(just the station not the actual archos device that slots into it. im wondering is this device any good to me on its own or will it only work with the device. my question is it has the red/white/yellow rca connection at the back…
