Upgrading software on Triax Box - for satellite

Am using a Triax SR 110 for my Free to Air Satellite connection.
A number of channels have recently gone missing and someone who works in Satellite Installation told me that a change in the Satellite (positioning?) has occurred recently. The remedy, he said, is to download software from the Triax website and install it in the Triax box.
Has anyone heard of this, or experienced it, or attempted it?

I am computer literate and could do this, although I would need advice on how to connect computer (or usb flash drive) to the Triax Box.

This isn't really a foreign satellite question (I think!).

If your missing channels include POP, Tiny Pop ,Tiny Pop +1 ,Kix! ,PopGirl, PopGirl +1, The Vault, Chart Show TV, NME TV, Flava, Bliss, Scuzz, DanceNation TV, Lava, True Ent, True Movies, True Movies 2, then have a look at the following:

This is also discussed in the Satellite forum. It should just be a case of rescanning the channels.

Thank you. Will follow your excellent advice. Just one question. If there is a download available for my set top box, how do I make a connection between the computer and the box. I cannot see a USB socket in the Triax Box. However I do see a nine-pin (two rows) male socket.

There should be a RS232 port at back of satellite receiver. Get a RS232 cable and connect it from your pc to the satellite receiver.

I don't have that particular box but I didn't see a download on the site for the Triax, which led me to suspect that you were right and there is no usb function.

Also, in the spec on the site it makes no mention of usb. In fact it specifically says:

DISADVANTAGES of Triax SR110 Satellite Receiver
If an additional channel becomes available it must be manually tuned in

    http://www.tvtrade.ie/triax-sr110-satellite-receiver.html

I'd say just use the 2nd link in my first post and scan the missing channels back in manually.

Triax do have software on their site for this model here. You'll notice that in the instructions it recommends connecting your PC to the SR110 using a null modem cable to update.

Again, i'd go with a manual scan first, and see if that fixes the problem.

    Not a standard RS232 cable either! It's a null-modem cable.

Anyway, as already advised, just delete dead channels and rescan.

The update sets the Uk channels in order, among other things.
    Here it is

I notice the socket at the back of my laptop is female, while the socket on the Triax box is male. Am I therefore looking for a null-modem A male to B female RS232 cable?

I have a TRIAX TX10 and can't remember the password (someone must have set a password at some stage) does anyone have a master password for this box so I can re-tune in the channels that have disappeared recently?

I wish to update my Triax box but like EamonnX1 I'm not sure what type of Null modem cable I need is it a female to female or female to male could anyone clarify this and where might be the cheapest place to get one as I don't have that much cash, thanks in advance for any help

Hold down the buttons on the front of the triax box I forget which ones but prob power and some other (or maybe it was all 3 on the front of the box, you will see the numbers begin to flash on the box) this will restore the box to factory settings, think u will then have to rescan all the channels etc. This happened to me when I changed it from PAL to another setting and the screen went black and I had no access to the box at all plus no TV channels, so don't change that setting people, took me days to figure out how I could reset the box:D

Just thinking about it again and you probably just need to hold down the power button on the box for 5 to 10 seconds until you see the number flash on the front of the box;)
