hercules stove trouble

I've a Hercuules 30b stove for the last 3 yrs and am very happy with it, was told it was bulletproof. Then last week I discover a hairline crack on the top of it 15cm long from the flue twds the front. Has anyone had this trouble? A new top is available I'm informed at €230 as guarantee lasts only 2yrs. I only burn turf/…
