Thanks Andrea, it's the breed club really I want to talk to, suppose I'll just have to make do with ringing them.

I would love to come with my older SBT and check out the pet expo! We have been to many expos in the states and just moved to Dublin. Does anyone know would he be required to wear a muzzle in the expo while walking around? He is still getting used to the whole muzzle in public thing and it is not easy on him.

If he is on the restricted breeds list then the answer is yes, that being said, I did meet a lovely Akita and German Shepard that had no muzzle but everyone seemed to follow the dogs onleash at all times rule:) However I would guess the restricted breeds that will be at the Breed village will be the only exceptions to the muzzle rule.

Almost forgot to say, I will definetly be looking out for you Andrea, and will have my Malamute Titan with me, cant wait to meet Cooper:)

I will be there and will bring along Harvey our (will be then) 1 year old x breed and maybe someone will be able to tell me what he is! I suspect lurcher GSD X - he was dumped as an 8 week old puppy in a cardboard box on 19th Dec last in minus 6 degrees, ice and snow.

Can't wait to see the show as I have never been. Are there many stands for groomers to buy stuff?

Will def come over and say hi Andrea!:)

The Irish Gundog Field & Show Society will be in attendance, and will be bringing Setters, but not sure if they will have IR&W. I will try and find out for you

Come along with the family to the Breed Village at this years Pet Expo being held in the RDS on the 8th & 9th October and meet some of the most experienced people in Ireland in their respective dog breeds.

They will be on-hand to advise you on all the breed specific information regarding their choosen breed/breeds as well as valuable advice on how to get involved in the breed if they are suitable to your lifestyle

Would love to bring along my two but in training at the moment to get them beyond their people fear so it wouldn't be fair. Still plan to come along though if only to catch up with the crew from DTI and from Sharpwell's Hydro.

See the rest of you there :)

I'm interested in going with my 2 but i'm a bit worried in that they have only seen cats from afar and appear very interested in these little fast furry things that hide under cars and on top of walls. Can i avoid the cat area completely?

Just seen on petexpo site that they won't be allowed in.

Who wont be allowed in? I thought all dogs were allowed as long as they are well behaved?

:) Dogs aren't allowed in 'cat world'

Sorry i think my brain is a bit fuddled today, i edited it to say not allowed in straight after posting. I meant dogs aren't allowed in Cat World which kinda makes my life easier as i had visions of being dragged to investigate the little furry cats by my nosy lump :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,412 ✭✭✭toadfly

Ok that makes more sense :D. what days are most boardsies going? I'm thinking the Saturday, going to bring my mam she will love it!

Hehe well last year there was hens, fish, birds of prey and monkey things so plenty of other distractions for the dogs! :)

Thanks Paul, I'm not so set on actually 'seeing' IR&W Setters, I was more hoping there might be someone there with in-depth knowledge on the out-cross program going on between IR&W breed club and the IKC. ;)

Looks like it's on the same time I have to head up the east coast so will brave those scary Dublin roads and bring along one of our dogs (they won't all fit safely in the car at the same time plus need room for all the purchases of course). So we'll the the grumpy exhausted ones a Papillon half asleep wandering around.

should be there around 11 on Saturday, have my tickets on thop of my computer as I type, this year is going to be indoors.....what ever that means, hopefully it wont just be in the area that all the pet food companies where last year, I am hoping that they set up Marques outside so we still have the large walking area where it is easier for dogs to meet as opposed to cramp walk ways with dogs being forced to pass each other face to face.

That's a good point, I found it great last year to be able to bring my dogs outside for a breather from the dense crowds and still be able to take in some stalls etc., inside is alot to take in even for the most socialised dog.

I know Mrs Angela Hancock will be on this booth and she should be able to give you the info you require. The IKC will also have a stand.

It was mostly indoors last year with the odd covered stand, good point about narrow walk ways. We only had a little pooch with us so we could scoop him up and he's very friendly with other dogs anyway but I don't think my collie would cope well so can't bring her.

There's lots of outdoor space though anyway to give everyone a breather.

You will have to contact PedigreeDogs.ie to do this as Paul is the person who organises the breed village.
