I've been Trying to conceive for over 4 years now. After about 1 year, I did get pregnant, but alas it was ectopic, (tube was left intact) about 4 months after that I conceived again, but miscarried very early. Since then we've had no joy at all.

I've had a HSG which has shown that one of my tubes has a hydrosalpinx (basically it's more or less blocked).

I'm currently trying to decided if I should have surgery to attempt to repair (or even remove) the blocked tube.

Just wondering if anyone has gone through such surgery, or successfully conceived with one blocked tube?

    Thanks

My sister did. She had an etopic and a misscarriage and went on to have 3 kids (2 youngest caught her off guard :p) in quick succession. She had the tube removed. I remember reading somewhere that there is a theory that the other ovary compensates for it so fertility isnt halved like you would think, but diminished slightly.

Would a laperoscopy sort it out for you?

Ah it's great to hear positive stories. Thanks.

Not sure if a laparoscopy will be possible, due to previous abdominal surgery. They tried to do it for the ectopic, but ended up doing open surgery because they encountered a lot of adhesions.

I haven't decided which surgeon I'll get referred to yet, but a couple have been recommend by my fertility specialist, so I wont know what the plan of action will be until I have a consultation.

I'm TTC with one tube. I had an ectopic in May and lost my left tube. Surgeon said my right tube looked health and my gynae told me my fertility was reduced by 30%. Last month I think I ovulated from my tubeless side as I had ovulation cramping on that side. I'm hoping to ovulate from my good side this month, I'll keep you posted:cool:
