Is there a handy way to bypass Ardee when you are driving the N2? It just seems that Ardee is the only bottleneck on the road.

If you can, it's much better to take the M1 and then the Ardee exit.

Was going to suggest the M1 as well. The N33 (between the motorway and Ardee) is 100km/h as far as I know, and you'll bypass Ardee that way. Of course this means an extra €1.80 toll, but it probably is quicker!

Depending on your direction (if you want to avoid the motorway)

Southbound: At first roundabout (Toyota garage) take N33 for M1, straight through next (new) roundabout, then turn right at next junction.

Then take right at next T-junction and follow straight to next junction which is back on N2 at the church on south side of Ardee, left for Dubbelin.

    Northbound: reverse of above. ;)

Depending on time of day it would be quicker to just go through town than do this.

Agreed! Those last 2 lines of directions could take far longer than going through the town. It's sending you in to the middle of 2 school pick-up areas.
