    Hi,
I am looking for an estate type commercial along the lines of the Astra estate van. It seems the Astra has been dis-continued. Anybody know of a similar type?
Caddy style will not do nor will jeep or transit style.

    Any thoughts?

A lot of these vans have been discontinued after the government shook up the VRT on them. I cant actually think of any van that's still on sale in that mould.

Do you need a new one? Plenty of the previous type astra vans available second hand.

I'm planning on one myself shortly...

Passat estate is available commercialised if that suits.

It would be a special order for sure.

I would've thought the astra long van would qualify for minimum vrt cos the loadbay is so long.

Renault do the scenic van too. Kia do a ceed estate van too I believe

Thanks but it would have to be a "standard" van

Surely you could then order any estate and have it commercialised?

Would the Superb Combi qualify?? I presume it do when the VW does.

Insuring something that's a one off would be tricky. Has to be said that a lot of Diesels have minimal vrt anyway so once you pay for a conversion and drastically reduce the future resale value it doesn't make sense.

There are obvious vat and bik benefits of course

Wasn't factory built IIRC. There's very few carvans left VRT allowed due to them no longer accepting Irish coachbuilding jobs for the 13.3% rate.

No Focus, Astra, C4 etc anymore.

    Thanks guys,

This van would have to be available on the forecourt so to speak. I will check out the Kia.

Astra Van is still available to order (estate type). Not sure if there would be any on a forecourt anywhere as they've never really been anything that has been stocked.

Don't think you are able to get vehicles converted anymore - like the Passat Estate. VW aren't even selling the Golf Van anymore as it's not leaving factory as a van and it's not financially viable to get it converted once it lands (if that's even possible).

From memory, the Car Van choices are now:

    Opel Astra Estate Van
    Toyota Auris Van
    Ford Fiesta Van
    Ford Kuga Van
    Toyota LandCruiser Van
and from Jan the New Mitsubishi Pajero Van

    Slim pickings......

Spoke to my Opel supplier about them a few weeks ago as I wasn't sure if they were still available with Opel not producing the Astra Estate anymore, which is what it's based on, and was told by the commercial specialist that you can still order them.

Sorry to drag this back up but I was just looking on the Opel website for something else and noticed this page...

    http://www.opel.ie/vehicles/opel_range/vans/astravan/index.html?ppc=G_CV-AstraVan_AstraVanBrand-BROADModifier

According to their website they are still marketing the astra van..€18,050
