Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Two abreast in a bus lane. Traffic relatively light. Approximately 30kph.

    Game on?

    Don't be so ignorant?

Make a poll (not a pole...).

However, this'll likely descent pretty rapidly into a bit of a mess.

Side by side is ok IMO.

Bike lanes are about wide enough for 2 bikes (not quite but pretty close), so 2 people side by side would be fine I reckon.

I think in busy traffic it's only courteous to give a bus driver room, you don't have to but I think you should if you safetly can.

No - because bus lanes inevitably attract buses and I don't want to be on the outside when one tries to squeeze by......

    Love that second option, punk!

    Illegal? No.
    Unsafe? Indirectly maybe.
    Inconsiderate? Probably.

    I misunderstand this thread -

Is it game on in that the two cyclists race each other, or game on in that it is ok to cycle two abreast at 30km/h in a bus lane.

IIRC, buses in an urban setting (ie where there are bus lanes) have a speed restriction of 50kmph (rarely obeyed IMHO). Perhaps other can check.

Given the stop start nature of the bus, if the two cyclists were to increase effort to say produce 40kmph, then no bus driver could reasonably complain at this.

No no no. You're missing the point. There are no busses :pac:

I think that when you have a lot of tits on the road it's inevitable that they'll be abreast from time to time, cleaving their way through the traffic.

Sounds like a recipe for a bust up, but it should be OK as long as we don't get frustrated motorists leaning on their hooters.

Also, to further this, what time are they in the bus lane?

How many punters are on the bus?

Aye, and is it an express bus in a hurry or a normal around the world bus?

My vote may be influenced by whether they are more than 1.5m from the kerb or not;)

What kind of locks are to be used? You should spend about 10% of the bike's value on the lock.

One angry 38A bus driver is honking relentlessly while approaching the 2 cyclists at speed. The driver doesn't slow down or swerve and forces the two cyclist to jump out of their bikes onto the footpath as an attempt to save their lives.

That happened to me last April.
