new eircom 7000 cordless phone

    I plugged a new eircom 7000 in this morning and still theres no light ,no little charging icon,nothing.I left it all day ,its been charging nearly ten hours.
    Whats the story ? Does anyone have this phone and I checked the manual and it says leave for twelve hours but it also said the icon should be there.I didnt buy it myself either
    The green light on the base is on alright.

    Yeah.i think the batteries are gone.im going buy new ones and hopefully itll work.they were laying around ages not being used and the fact theres no icon means they arent working.
