There has never been metal at EP (the closest they got was ASIWFA). It is a dance festival with indie rock leanings. To contradict what I said above about them trying to do a bit for everyone they've usually stuck to the same style of music since they started.

now defunct limerick two piece giveamanakick and an Israeli metal outfit called monotix(sic) have played in Strabally
Grimes added to the saturday lineup

    http://4ad.com/artists/grimes/live

great addition, just saw her on jools holland and thought she'd be perfect for the Body and soul stage

Both of them are pretty punk-y... on the loud spectrum, but not metal.

I second this. My friend dragged me to see them at Oxegen one year and we voted with our feet half-way through their set. I really don't know what people see in them.

I'm not quite sure what to make of Grimes. I've listened to Visions I found it to be very sugar-coated and uninspiring but at the same time there's some decent catchy songs. I wouldn't mind seeing her live though.

I'm still holding out for Beach House and Sharon Van Etten to be announced, they could be two quite possible additions.

well i guess that boils down to what you want from a festival.
personally, i'd love if EP was more like Primavera.
I really couldn't care less about drama performances, a circus, Ryan Tubridy debating the future of the media, Darina Allen cookery classes, or whatever other non-music nonsense the ticket money goes to funding. There's plenty of people that enjoy that stuff and pretty much go to EP for it as they've no interest in the music, but I really only care about the music side of it.
as such, it's a decent comparison for my situation anyway...

Well then go to a different festival. There are plenty of people who enjoy EP for what it is. Just because oxygen is over, doesn't mean EP has to change...

If you want to go to a festival like primavera, then go to primavera

    it's not an either/or.
and i'm not sure what oxegen has to do with it, EP has changed in the last few years anyway. and i'm one of the people that enjoys EP for what it is, i'd just enjoy it more if there wasn't a load of stuff that i've no interest in, pretty simple really.
perhaps if they focussed more on the music like they used to, they'd make more money, especially seeing as they can't even sell all the tickets these days...

No such thing as Saturday day tickets. Sunday is the only "day" you can buy. Weekend apart from that

There ARE Day tickets. They're made available to locals and to media. You just have to know one or the other to be able to get them...

Thats like saying anyone can get into VIP areas anywhere in the world because you just have to know band people or media types, majority of people aren't privy to that kind of access, its weekend tickets apart from Sunday for 99% of regular EP goers.

Just wondering does anyone have any idea when the tickets are being posted out? I bought an early bird ticket before Christmas cos I usually go, however the ****e line-up coupled with my poorness means I want to sell my ticket asap.

Alanis Morissette is releasing a new album in August, could be a possibility? The soundtrack of my childhood car journeys!

Anybody thinking of booking with Pink Moon Camping? Seems to be their first year at EP. Apparently they are located beyond the Oscar Wilde campsite, can anyone tell me if that sounds like a serious trek? Cheers.
