People overreact to the word hurricane because of the damage they've caused in the States. We have little to be worried about as we don't build our houses out of kindling.

    Its a storm, no biggie.

:) *memories of "Hurricane Charlie"* :)

My bedroom window was so fragile and leaky cos of old crumbling putty I covered it over with a sheet of translucent plastic, just as well too or I'd have woken to a puddle I'm certain.

Also, your hair will look as mental as the singer's afterwards.

Your right, the houses in Ireland could withstand the biggest tornado cause we make them from concrete.

Meh, all these storm warnings always end up as an anti climax

    Anti-climax? I thought it was anti-cyclone...

Without knowing exactly what the situation is, would you say it's time for people to crack open each other's skulls and feast on the goo that flows forth?

This is all just 'a storm in a teacup'.

I noted the names for all storms on that site.

"Arlene, Bret, Cindy, Don, Emily, Franklin, Gert, Harvey, Irene, Jose, Katia, Lee, Maria, Nate, Ophelia, Philippe, Rina, Sean, Tammy, Vince, Whitney"

Always wondered about the female/male names and if there was equality.

They alternate, its hard to be too fearful of Hurricane Tammy or Harvey though

You're reading that backwards. It originated off Africa as a tropical wave, which indeed is how a lot of Tropical Storms form.

The other end of the line is the storm's current position, and that hasn't been updated for 2 days (The list is maintained by the US Hurricane Centre, and now that Katia is no longer a threat to the US they're concentrating more on Lee, Nate etc so they won't be updating Katia's map as often)

...When it gets out of rehab again! :D
(Its a wonder there isn't a Britney or a Lohan - but then again, they seemed to have blown out - thankfully!)

I guess it means no pissing rain for 2 minutes then wee bit of sun for 1 minute, then rinse and repeat.

It will be just a 3min of rain and 30secs of sun.

Seems faily quite out there today. Well, no worse than usual anyways. The alleged calm before the alleged storm, perhaps?

So...its gonna be windy and rainy? Sounds like the last 3 months.

Still, better take the dog off the roof just in case.

If ye have anything light - even bouncy trampolines - in your back garden, just to be on the safe side, secure them better.
Last thing anyone wants is something blown about and perhaps breaking back windows in the night/morning.
