Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

new car under 23k

    hey all.

    I'm in the look out for a new car at the moment. I have a budget of about 15k plus what ever I get for my current car.
    I'm looking at upgrading to something with good nice spec but I don't want a massive engine for insurance reasons(had a crash a year ago and i'm still paying for it) want to keep it under 2l preferably 1.8 and I want a saloon. I do about 30k km a year so i'd say i'd be looking at a diesel aswell.

    Currently I have a 06 volvo s40. I'd expect about 8k for that. So the outside budget would be about 23k. I'm looking to stay with a saloon if possible but may be open to suggestions to a hatchback.

    I've looked at two cars already but i don't know if i'm gone on them.

Plus it seamed a bit common in comparsion to the the other two. Every second car on the road seams to be a mondeo or avensis.

    So to sum up, i am looking for a well spec'ed premium diesel saloon under 2l for about 20-23k.

    What would any of ye recommend to go test drive?

    P.s. And before I get the skoda brigade on here telling me i'm mad spending money on a car like that and buy a superb instead. i'm sorry guys the superb just doesn't do it for me. I don't have a family yet so i don't need the limo like proportions.

    I wouldn't go for that A4. I test drove it. Its pretty basic. And has a fair amount of miles on it for a 09. I had a budget of €25K a few days ago and I found a fair amount of brand new cars. If I had to pick between the 3 you listed I'd go for the Accord. But, when I was looking for cars I was looking for a saloon too, in the end I got a 08 Audi A5. Also, you should take a look at the Citroen C6's on Carzone.ie. I was tempted to take that instead of the A5. Good luck finding one
