The Corinthia Grand Royal Hotel, Erzsébet körút, Budapest.

Can be expensive, but if you book it in advance it's astonishing value for money. If you can imagine what the Gresham would be like if it was done properly, then you've got the idea. Originally built in 1896, destroyed in the Soviet invasion in 1956, and restored to its original state about 7 or 8 years ago.

Comfortable rooms, fantastic breakfast, lovely coffee shop and very nice spa.

On our recent ATWR2011 charity drive around Ireland we stayed in the Limerick Strand Hotel. From the very second we arrived we were treated exquisitely. They had an area of the car park cordoned off for us upon arrival, with an attendant to guide us to our spaces. After that we were greeted at reception with a smile and were checked in promptly and shown to our rooms. The hotel itself is stunning, and the rooms were very well equipped with Wifi and all mod cons you'd expect of such a fine hotel. Due to our late arrival we missed the dinner menu, but upon entering the bar, at about 10pm, the staff were only too happy to rustle up some food for all of us on the grill, and we ate in the comfort of a quiet corner of the bar.

I wont mention the room rate we got but needless to say as soon as they were told of what we were doing, and that we were doing it for Barretstown they were extremely obliging and we got a bank holiday Sunday night rate that I've struggle to find, even in mid-week, at inferior hotels.

Its the best hotel I've stayed in for a long time, and I couldn't recommend them enough.

We stayed in The Pier Hotel in Limerick over three weeks ago. We bought an offer on BoardDeaels.ie which we paid €79 in total for two staying overnight, double room, chocolates and bottle of champagne on arrival, three course meal in the evening and full irish breakfast in the morning.

Now that was value if there ever was value!! €39.50 each !!

Renvyle House Hotel in Connemara is one of those special places that is a real find. Its slightly quirky, 'shabby-gentile' atmosphere is both endearing and relaxing. The food is wonderful, especially after an appetite-inducing, bracing walk on the beach.

    Westlodge Hotel in Bantry!

Fine Irish food made with the best West Cork ingredients. Always a nice fire burning in the foyer, filling the place with a nice smell of turf. Makes someone feel nice and warm in the thick of winter with a howling wind outside. And a top swimming pool and jacuzz! :D

I love the fact that the Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport has smoking rooms - not many other hotels offer this any more.
