A man with a hearing problem walked into a ESB power station for a tour. He arrived late and had to join the rest of the group already on the tour. The man was reviewing what he had just told the group. He told the group that they wouldn't move on untill they answered this one question: "What is the unit of power equal to one joule per second called?" The man with the hearing problem hadn't heard the question very well, so he raised his hand and asked "What?"

Um......when going on holiday make sure to destroy the nearest power circuit so you'll be sure people don't waste energy while you're gone. :D

dont overfill your kettle, only boil enough for what you need and turn your washing machine down to 30, the clothes still come out lovely and clean. Every little helps ;)

If you have gas heating put it on using the timer. Don't leave it on continuously. Saves gas and saves money!

Adopt a load of pets, then skin them and make a nice sweater out of their skin. I've been swearing by this method for years. I've even made a nice pair of curtains too. :D

Turn off the lights if you not need. Simply do that everyday, it really works.

Reduce the number of bulbs in the room.

TVs and sound systems use power even on standby - investing in a time switch to turn your living room appliances off at the wall at night could save you loads ;)

What Thomas Edison's Mother might have said to her son

"Of course I'm proud that you invented the electric light bulb. Now turn it off and get to bed!"

Did you hear about the foolish gardener?

He planted a light bulb and thought he would get a power plant.

Fix leaking taps (especially hot water taps!)

Position fridges and freezers in a cool place away from direct sunlight and heat.

Most new televisions have an energy saving setting which dims your display..turn this mode onto maximum and you'll be used to the dimmer picture within the hour!!!

Similarly change your laptop power profile to energy saving..this increases battery life and reduces charging requirements.

    and finally:

Why did the lights go out
Because they enjoyed each others company!!!

    So bad ha

Don't make the Big Switch like Lucy has. It looks horrible on the side of your house!

Don't pay your ESB bill, they will disconnect you, and you'll never have an energy bill again.

Leaving desktops on instead of putting them on standby tends to increase your electricity bills... alot.
