ignition barrel removal

    due to some undesirable characters trying to steal my car i now have to put in a new ignition unit. :mad:i've gotten hold of a second hand ignition unit. i only want to swap the barrels out however as i dont want various keys belonging to the car. it's a 90 mk 4 xr3i. Any ideas how to get the barrel out?:D

    is your old barrell completly knackered?can you turn the original key in it.if you can you need to turn the key to the first stage and if you look at where the barrell goes in the steering assmbly at around 1 oclock looking towards the lock there is a small drill hole. where you,l see a small brass pin, press this down with a small scewdriver and pull on the barrell out towards u.

    if the barrell is wrecked find same pin hole at 1 o clock and drill the pin . then the barrell will pull out
