Hi, just wondering where ye would recommend for a surf down in Kerry this weekend? We will be based around Killarney for the weekend id say. We have transport, but no boards so would need a rental shop nearby? We are both pretty new to it (4th time) so wont be looking for massive surf.

    Suggestions anyone?

    Thanks
    Brian

There is ofter lots of rental vans on Inch beach but call the cafe first you'll need to google for the number.

Tragically a tourist was knocked down by a surf rental van on the beach and died - don't know the details except that he was reversing at the time, lets not go into it. Anyway as a result they may not be running from the beach it's also end of season.

Inch is a lot closer to Killarney than Castlegregory. I reckon about 40-45 minutes to Inch and an hour 10 minutes to Castegregory (about 45 mins saving over a return journey).

Inch is usually smaller than Castlegregory though so if you arrive and there's no waves, you can always take the scenic route over the mountains to Brandon Bay.

It depends on the swell direction. Inch will always be bigger on SW swells while Castlegregory will be bigger on NW swells.

True of course but it seems to happen rarely...
