I am looking for a recommended stove supplier in or around Sligo/Co. Sligo. I tried to call into Cost Stoves earlier in town but it was locked up. A mate just told me they've closed down. But if there's nothing in the town or county, anywhere like Castlebar/Ballina would be fine.

Never thought about Brooks and Heiton Buckley tbh, I'll give them a try. I'll check out that spot in Pearse Road you mentioned, ideally I'm looking for a stove specialist.

    Anyway, thanks for those.

It's about 25 mins from me in the car so that's no bother.

My father in law bought one recently in Boyle, he said they have the greatest range (excuse the pun) of stoves he's seen around.

Well OP, we got a stove a couple of years ago from Cosystoves and tbh it was a mistake. I'm not surprised to hear that they closed down.

My other half has been pricing Stanley stoves recently (including NI) & found Simon's in Boyle to be the cheapest by a couple of hundred euros for the model he wanted. He checked in Heiton Buckley's, Brooks, and Sligo Stoves (in BTW across from Brooks).

I was there last week and unfortunately no one decided to bother their arsé helping me. Also some of the information they gave me on the phone when I initially rang, was totally wrong. One particular stove I was looking at can't burn smokeless coal, because it burns at a higher temperature and it can damage the stove.

Of all the places I've been to, they were the only ones that gave me the wrong information on this particular stove. So I think I'll be giving them a miss, because I don't fancy replacing a damaged stove in 2 or 3 years.

Why not simply inform yourself elsewhere and buy form them if they're the cheapest

I think you might need to edit that post.

As above, I'd recommend Terry's. Mightn't be the cheapest in the world, but they're not cheap chinese imports either, and this guy knows what he's on about.

Hi Buford, Wheres Terrys showroom? I would'nt mind having a look myself as these stoves seem very efficient. Website only gives a mobile number. Thanks.

I think its in Ballymote, but honestly I don't know.. My parents bought a stove off him, and the only time i seen him was when he delivered it to the house for them. He does really know what he's talking about though. He may well call to you if you phone him - nice guy....

I called into O'Dowds stove shop yesterday in Carrick and you'd swear the guy I was trying to speak was doing me a favour. When I asked a few technical questions, he didn't want to know. It was more or less, buy or else. So I took the 'or else' option. Christ it's not going well at all, you'd swear there was no recession in some places.

I know it is a bit out of the way but we bought a stove last year from this guy - http://www.gordonheatingsupplies.com/products.html - They are a bit outside Tuam but found them very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a huge range of stoves for all budgets and are good to deal with. The stove we bought was only small so it fitted in the back of the car but as far as I know they supply and fit so delivery probably isn't a problem
