I didnt expect this game to be half as good as it is. Honestly surprised at how much its sucked me in. I recommended it to a friend and sure enough he loves it too.
Its like Dark Souls and Skyrim mixed with Devil May Cry and Shadow of the colossus... but it works.

Anyone here playing on PSN? my pawn has yet to be rented :(

I put about 6 hours in so far, and I have to say it's wearing on me now, it had so much potential too, the pawn system is just poo, I mean why do they force you to recruit 2 random pawns and let you have only 1 permanent one of your own creation ? Seems to be there for the sake of being different, ok it's great for strategy and a balanced party for a given situation in theory but I imagine most want characters they nurse and develop the whole way through the game.

Levelling up ? Which is the bones of every RPG is taken away from you , and you have to go visit someone to learn a new skill

On the plus the crafting and inventory is almost right.

THE single worst thing in this game is the save system, one slot

I'll stick with it and see if I can get into it.

What exactly do you mean by levelling up being taken away from you? Just that you have to travel somewhere in order to level up?

Yes and no, I mean the whole spending of skilldiscipline points and what not is just not as rewarding with how it's been implemented in this , kinda takes some of the fun and reward out of it, all you have here is go to a guy and spend points on a new skill, just very one dimensional. Unless this opens up and expands later ?

I think the pawn system in this game is great, if not completely perfectly implemented. Some say that this game is too difficult. How could it be when you can select the game difficulty by the level and characteristics of the 2 pawns you chose from the Rift. Personally I think that there is enough of character management involved with the protagonist and your own pawn. I am glad that some other players are building pawns for my use in my adventures. I also like how the two 'other' pawns get better armour/ weapons in your game as they are being enhanced by their owner in their own game.

Unfortunately there sees to be no connection to the gaming community through the pawn system- its seems a bit detached. Not sure what the solution is but Demons/ Dark Souls has this nailed much better. Though I got comments back with my pawn last night for the first time- this personalised it a bit better (that and the 19k rift currency:)). Maybe they could be returned with additional map info or enemy stats to learn (rather than the standard "Arisen, I know more about an enemy" dialogue line).

I agree with you that the levelling up has been implemented better in most other similar games. You get a level up message but it means little when it arrives, until you travel somewhere later.

I am loving this game so far! The day/ night cycle is executed so well. I am glad I had finished Skyrim and the Witcher 2 before I got this, otherwise they would not be getting a look in. The combat gameplay is where it is at! Overall though it still falls a bit short of Dark Souls (it lacks the perfectly conceived and executed environment and atmosphere of DS), but sure doesn't everything!

This is something that was unclear to me after looking at a few reviews. So you can make your own pawn available for other people to hire but he's still with you as well yeah? Or is he gone while on loan?

After my initial criticisms I've warmed to it more, but having come from the witcher 2 straight to this and playing a fighter I keep pushing LS to highlight loot and B to roll :D i'd gladly swap jumping for the ability to roll.

Now I've made a pigs ear of my 1st escort quest by going the totally wrong way and found my self in areas I have no right to be in, trying to skirt around
    a dragon
 wasn't expecting to see any until much later on , needless to say I ran for the hills.

Maybe I'm not far enough into it yet but is there some kind of fast travel system I haven't found ?????????

Also how to you set the price for others hiring your pawn?

Bandits are the least of my problems :(

Huge troll, a swam of lager goblins , those lizard men, escaped them all only to have to flee yet again with the flames licking my arse .

This game really needs a multisave slot system :(

Your pawn is placed in the Rift for hire but stays with you at all times. As you enhance your pawns armour or weapons they seem to upgrade also in the world they are hired within, but I dont think they level up in parallel. I think the level you hire them at is the level you return them at. If you subsequently hire them them most likely will be at a higher level, provided they have levelled up sibce in their own world.

Calex71, the ability to roll is one of the core skills that can be acquired if you use daggers (dagger specific skill).

What classes are you all playing as? I have switched from strider to magic archer. Loving the magic archer with magic bow, daggers and magic staff- has it all! Yet all the loot I am finding is for the Mystic Knight:mad:.

    ..... snip.

I thought your pawn's gear gets updated when you rest at an inn in your world. Then whoever is using your pawn gets the most recent update when they rest at an inn in their world?

Level increase I'm guessing would be similar.

Anyway, Game is excellent. this and Dark Souls have been huge surprises for me :)

Fighter, but have the opportunity to switch now so Mystic Knight is looking like a good step for me

Yeah, its a good possibility that all upgrades register when resting at the inn has occurred. But the level of the pawns you hire remain the same until you return then.

Was wondering about that, I hired a really awesome pawn but I'm about 10 levels higher now, but I'm afraid to return her in case I find she's too expensive to hire again.

The ogres in the Abandoned mine are causing me quite a bit of hassle. I took the first one down. The second one keeps one-shotting me when it goes into frenzy mode after I've taken half its energy.

It's gas when you go into someones house and your pawns proceed to loot and smash up the place :D

40 odd hours in now ..... still loving it and the pawn system is such a pain ....... I feel guilty about letting them go for new one :o

Playing as a male fighter, with 3 female pawns with posh english accents who scream "armed rogues" while out and about and say "aught" and "naught" a fair bit and loot strangers houses and gather up the goodies in dungeons. Other devs take note this is how to do npc party members, they break the silence on the long hikes and mammy me when I fall down and fire up my sword for the goblins :p

I'd say you've accidentaly wandered into an area that is only meant for when you are at a much higher level.

I think it's fantastic so far. I completed the Shadow Tower mission on Wednesday evening. I thought the battle was amazing, trying to fight off goblins while two giant cyclops monsters try and trample you and your party to death:)
