^^ Just did that myself and afterwards i was stuck out there with no way stones in the dark which led to a massive battle with goblins followed by a griffon. Loads of fun

I'd say you've accidentaly wandered into an area that is only meant for when you are at a much higher level.

I think it's fantastic so far. I completed the Shadow Tower mission on Wednesday evening. I thought the battle was amazing, trying to fight off goblins while two giant cyclops monsters try and trample you and your party to death:)

    You obviously missed the
    balista with explosive arrows
in the back of that area, from where you entered it's across a broken bridge you can just jump over to or climb up to, where the switch was I think ;)

Was your character small enough to fit into the holes in the ground there? Hate when games do things like that, you think your missing out on tonnes of cool loot :D

I think at the part I was at I was actually meant to run away so past that bit now.

Loving this game, up to lv21 now I think. Is there a level cap?

    Yes there is a cap ...................... it's 200

But I'm level 42 now and not leveling nearly as fast I was sub level 40, not having any problems at them minute with defeating anything I come across but I;'ve been taking my time and doing every notice board and non main quest.

I even bested the dragon near the shadow gate with ease :)

Careful the rewards for some of the collect a high number of X or Kill a number of X have been pretty good for me, especially the ones off the tavern noticeboard in gran soren, (not the one inside the inn) many have rewarded a high level gold weapon.

Put it this way the devs were sneaky when it comes to hiding loot in this game, i could try to explain where the book is but you are better off getting a youtube video to see it, it;s at the top but hard to explain..... you'll come back and say "wtf .... how was I meant to see that " trust me.

By the way please tell me you didn't go into that castle swords blazing? They would not have turned hostile to you, only the ones out side are hostile and offered you quests later, no matter the leader respawns after a week or so, I went in swords blazing too but reloaded after I saw the solution to the quest :)

FYI there are tonnes of weapon chests there and a shard ;)

Edit: Skip to 3:00 for the location http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uP3G9HN5JtQ

Actually that guy in the video does it the hard way, you don't need to fight anyone just go get the chest and ignore them and they wont fight you

Edit: Edit: Once you get this make a save and use the book for the lulz :D

Just did the boss at the end of the main quest....... 32 minutes it took as a fighter with 2 mages and a strider main and pawn at lvl 53.

Not a hard fight by any means, just long, very long. Good news is there is lots to do post game :)

If your a sorcerer, don't use maelstrom in the center of town. The plopping sounds of the villagers hitting the ground shall haunt my dreams.

If you are playing as fighter/ warrior invest some time in changing vocation to someone who can use a bow if you want to kill the Ur Dragon in the everfalls post game

I have been fighting him for 3 hours in the offline mode ...... google it..... you can fight him online and it basically takes everyone who is fighting him in that instance and gives him X health and it's a combined effort to kill him .... off line he is easy............ well if you have someone who can shoot that is because there are parts that u can't get to as a melee fighter and the pawns do nothing but stand there and die in this fight grrrrrrrrrrrrrr .................. I had to respec as an assassin and chip away. Any one who played monster hunter games will be smiling a knowing smile when they get to this guy

Just got this on Friday and have a few questions.

Should I be accepting every small mission/quest from the notice board, or just some I know I will be able to complete?

Is all storage universal? i.e. If I store something while in the first encampment will I be able to withdraw it from Gran Soren?

How rare is money, should I care about spending it?

And finally, should I buy my equipment now at Gran Soren, or will I soon be coming to a town which sells better armour/weapons, and I would have wasted my money in Gran Sorn?

You need to clear some of the notice board quest for ones with better rewards to come up most of them can be done over time with no effort like kill X of Y.

Storage is game wide no matter who you store it with, and when you dismiss a pawn their inventory goes to storage , unless you actually equip them with a weapon or armor in which case it goes to the pawns owner , so don't do that. if they are too weak hire a better one.

Money can get tight if enhancing gear so I had no qualms about exploiting the mouldy carrots..... google it.

Gran Soren is the hub , better stuff will get stocked later as you progress, and if you do the quest to go looking for an idol , giving it to one of the shop keeps will improve their stock. Might be worth google on how to get the gold idol early on as there is only one and it can be missed entirely

where are all these jobs boards?

One at the inn in gran soren, one opposite it in the ale house, one in the pawns guild, the encampment, and another at the inn at cassardis, there are actually 2 in the pawns guild but one is just for dlc quests. Can't recall any others off the top of my head. Some will only offer new quests after you clear the current ones or after certain points in the main quest line.

Haven't a clue. How do you set a price?
Someone is using her though, keep getting stuff back and she has been rated too.
Anyone know how to you rate pawns?

I've seen your pawn around too.

I don't think you can set a price least not that I saw, cost is determined by their level and the level of the person hiring them, the lower they are they more it costs if they hire a pawn who is levels above them. You rate pawns when you release them.

If the person is on your friends list hiring their pawn is free.

Avoid the escort missions until you've uncovered a large portion of the map. On a couple of occasions I've taken on an escort job only to realise that where they want to go is miles into unknown territory where I haven't a hope of surviving.

If you do take one of these jobs, you can cancel it by using a notice board and you'll be asked if you want to cancel it. I don't think there's a penalty for cancelling it.
    F1ngers wrote:

When you hire one, then dismiss them, you're asked if you want to give an item and then give them a star rating for appearance, helpfulness and combat. Then your given a list of topics which have various one-liners in them, and you can choose one of those to send with the rating (things like "He helped us in combat" etc, or you don't have to give a sentence if you don't want).

I've only actually had a chance to play this again over the weekend, since I played it when it came out, so I'm really only getting into it now. And man am I loving it. Funnily enough, after about 10 hours of play, I've still only gone from the start village to Gran Soran and back, over and over. And it hasn't felt like a grind at all.

I do kind of wish they'd give you some sort of guide as to what level you should be at to take on a quest. Near the start, where you're asked to find the girl who went into the Witchwood at level 3 or so, I was hopelessly outclassed by the enemies there. At level 18, with pawns at levels 18, 20 and 35, I still got my a$$ handed to me.

I also didn't realise that you could change class during the game. I was playing a ranger, then restarted as a mage, so could have avoided replaying a chunk of it. But the mage is pretty cool. The lightning whip is just awesome. But it's annoying how long it takes to cast spells and also how the lightning whip is dispelled if you're hit.

Does anyone know how they decide how much a pawn costs to hire? When you're picking them in the rift, the price goes up with how higher their level is above yours. But some of the prices listed seem to be a bit random. Do their skills and equipment affect it?

I have - he is level 14. Too low for me.
Have a level 22 warrior and 37 mage as well as my own 27 mage.

I'm level 25 now, my pawn just earned my 45k of those rift point yokies. I have no idea if this is a lot in the grand scheme of things but considering I only had 15k at the time, awesome!

Sweet game though, have done two of Ser Maximillian's missions now and just doing some other side quests too. Really enjoying it.

Just another quick question, my main Pawn is a Sorcerer, and I was just wondering, does the order in which his spells are assigned affect how often he uses it? i.e. Will he use High Levin more if it is a primary skill, as opposed to a secondary skill?
