Nokia C7 problem

I got a C7 a few weeks back. one problem I have is in Contacts when I want to update Notes, the Return key doesn't work, which means that I have to space bar to end of line to drop one. It works fine in text, but not in contact notes. Can anyone help? Thanks

I've just tried this on my N8, and it works fine:

Contact > Edit > Add Item > Note
Tap to write
Type text, press "return", type more text

What I end up with is:
"This is the first line
This is the second line"
