Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I need to get a lock and I just got an e-mail giving me 10 pounds off at Charin Reaction Cycles. I was just wondering which I should get, I know the supposed golden rule is 10% the cost of your bike, so that would mean this one: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=12767

Is it worth shelling out for that one or am I just as well to get the S4 or Series 2?

    Thanks

That 10% rule is crap invented by people who sell locks, like spending a month's salary on a rock for your future ex-wife.

The 3000 is fine, but a bit long in the shackle. This makes it heavier and more prone to leverage attacks than the Mini, but more convenient for locking to awkward fences, gates and poles.

Long enough to get around the frame, wheel and post you think? Bikes a GT Avalanche 1.0.

Kryptonite is a good lock brand. The normal advice is get the smallest one that will fit around whatever you usually lock you bike to.

kryptonite new york can be sourced from ebay for considerably less than chain reactions.

the new york locks are a class above the standard ones, i would go for the new york one if your likely to be locking it in a high risk area and leaving it for the day.

Probably just outside the college in castlebar, most of the bike racks are in places only students would really be, always a few smokers knocking around, don't think it should be too high risk?

I do remember quite a few posts over the years of people bikes robbed from dublin colleges especially on dark winter evenings etc, if you have the extra few quid spare go for the new york if funds are tight go with the one you have linked to.
