Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is my turbo on the way out?

Driving on the M1 today and the car lost acceleration after the toll plaza. Suddenly no matter how I hard I pushed the pedal, could not exceed 2000rpm and a top speed of around 80kph. Stopped the car in the hard shoulder and started it up again a few minutes later. Not sure how but the car was fine then and still is. I'm assuming something major is imminent here?

The car is a 2.0TDi remapped B7 A4 with 200,000km on the clock if that info is any use.

    Thanks

If the turbo had gone there'd be lots of smoke but yeah as said above get it plugged in it's most likely gone into safe mode and is restricting itself. They can do this for many reasons, or no reason at all

Sometimes, but not always. I saw a turbo go a couple of months back; it whined and power was way down but there was no smoke. Mind, from what the OP has said the turbo wouldn't be the first thing that'd come to my mind either.

I'd say you overboosted. when you stopped and turned off key you resetted it. an error will come up when you get her checked with vag com. have same engine but slightly less power, ha. same happened to me.

I'd a golf and it did that on me as well...kept going and after about 10 miles it opened up and went grand again.
    Never did it again.
I had driven it very low on diesel and mechanic reckoned it was that.
