Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know does electric fence usage add much to the meter? Some say it does, others say not?? And if so, does it depend on whether or not it is earthing? Thanks!
Ps. Whats the going rate for milking cows? Is it per cow or per hr? If it was cash etc? Trying to do too much myself but getting sick of it!!!

Know "feck all" about cows, but I can tell you that the electric fence uses next to nothing in electricity.
If it's earthing, fix it cos your fence isn't working.

If a fence is perfect and not earthing at all it will only use minimal power, all it does is create the "potential" for power to be delivered..
Once a fence is earthed... by man, beast or bryar then it starts to use some power.. more shorts = more power consumption..

If it was completly shorted out then all power would be consumed..

Having said that.. Our mains fencer is 6K Joules, 6000joules..
6000 joules converts into about 0.002Kwh (units of electricity)

I'd work that up to about 20days to use a unit of electricity or 18.25 units a year if it was fully shorted... probably round up to 20 to run the fencer too..

But that could be the beer talking

The going rate for FRS milking is about 35 a milking depending on cow numbers. For over 80 cows its 40 a milking and 50 on sundays. Dont know what the story with cash is but i imaging 30 would be around the rate but then you pay the tax probably at the top rate so i reckon the difference is negligible. But as i say i dont know

It will be practically nothing especially on a modern short pulse width fence charger, and little difference even if it is earthing on such a short pulse output.
