hope the stewards get the ediots on the hill and f** them out of the ground for throwing bottles at the minors when they were doing the lap of honour
Didn't see that. That's disgraceful if true.

Ah they are only young lads in fairness. well played by them they have a great future ahead and this setback could galvanise them all the more.

Overall of what i seen in the match,Tipperary had the more hunger for winning,They did not stop in there playing and kept at it,Dublin can blame who & what they want,No excuses. Tipp won it and fair play to them.

Dublin Football - finding ever new and interesting ways to bottle it. Absolutely sickened after watching them through that away. Fair play to Tipp, they didn't give up. Lovely finish from them for the last of their 3 goals. But how Dublin didn't finish that off though is beyond me
Whatever about Dublin as a county but thats very harsh on this panel of young footballers. Theyve played very well all year and toady under a lot of pressure.
As a Tipp man I wouldnt call them bottlers.

That's a bit harsh in fairness. Neither team deserved to lose. Dublin were a little unlucky but the standard of football in the conditions was top class. Congrats to both teams. Dublin tackled hard but were very disciplined. Tipp stayed cool and got their chance in the end. Both teams a credit to their parents and their counties and clubs. Those young Dubs will be back.

They did bottle this match, the Dublin midfield was on top for nearly the whole game and for all their possession, the Dublin forwards made a mess of things. In the end Tipp deserved to win.

Tipp were 10/3 - a serious price, thats the beers paid for today.

Some fine players on display today - will be interesting to see how Kilkenny progresses over the next 2-3 years (would be tempted to put him into the seniot team in next years league).

great win for a smaller footballing county (from a Dub) :)

Tipp have previous for coming strong in the second half, once the gap was back to 2 points it was anyones game and it took a great goal to win it. Some might say it was a mistake that lead to the goal but sure youd very easily see similar mistakes at senior level. People seem to be looking at the bookies odds and thinking that Dublin are a lot better than they are. Tipp (and other counties) were always in with a good shout. People seem to look at minor teams as reserve senior teams when they are really just young lads with a lot to learn. To call them bottlers after the year theyve had is very unfair.

What is it with the GAA and not making temas change jersies when there's a colour clash?

I would take your point that perhaps Dublin could change their shirt to a paler shade of blue against tipp with tipp having a wider yellow band on their shirts with the shorts and socks both contrasting. The shorts dont clash but the socks do

Getting to these finals were great achievements in themseves and they also did well in the senior hurling. Its great to see counties putting in the effort at both codes ;)

jaysus the Tipp manager would want to shift some of that weight or we won't be around to see the Tipp lads progress to Senior

Perhaps he should shift some of the talent too and give to to Dublin

Talented teams win finals - Dublin have lost 3 out of three in the last two weeks. Plenty of talent for sure.

Laois have won loads of underage and so have Galway in hurling but both cant buy a senior and are in fact not within an asses roar of one so losing is not the end of the world. I think Dublin will start producing all ireland winning teams in both codes in the future.

What a great game....exhibition stuff at times. No shame in losing to a great Tipp side.

I thought a draw would have been a fair result.

As for the bottle throwing I didn't see it but there's always a few fans that ruin it and give a bad name to the rest.

As for attendance, Dublin really should have had more in there, you'll have that from any counties supporters though.

In any case a great day for football.

Game of the day like Dublin in the senior Tipp didn't give up when all looked lost Congratulations to Tipp.

That's part of it isn't it, never giving up no matter who the opposition is and what the media and most of the experts here & elsewhere are saying who should win.

As a limerick man i say v well done to tipp minors, i don't like tipp hurlers, but the footballers well done :)

Anyone know if there will be a welcome home for the Tipp minors tomorrow night? Maybe a few more will turn up than for the hurlers.

Congrats to Tipp on a great win - fair play to ye. But fair play to Dublin too - it was a great game of football. Kilkenny is a great player. Dublin had their tactics right keeping a good hold on Fahy for Tipp who was great against Roscommon.

Being from Roscommon I know what a win like that will mean to Tipp football. Huge respect to everyone involved with that great team.

PS: The odds were a joke for anyone who was following the minor this year - Tipp had beaten Cork Kerry Meath and Roscommon. Anyone who had seen them would have given them huge respect.

I can never understand people who dont arrive in time for the minor game - they are always great games and if you are lucky enought to have a ticket you should respect the players and go to see them. There is plenty of time for the pub after the game.

Horrible goalkeeping for the last goal, what was he thinking. Dublin can only blame themselves, they were the better team by far but didn't take their scores.

That would make them the worse team, as the scoreboard bears out...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭corny

Tipp team after my own heart even though i'm a Dub. Never gave up in a game i think its fair to say they didn't have a right to win. Felt sorry for the Dublin keeper but you don't get the turnover if you don't apply the pressure. Anyway just reward at under age for the hard work put into Tipp football.

As I said Tipp deserved to win, but Dublin are still the better team. Like when Ireland played Russia in the WC qualifiers, Russia were the better team as the possession and chance stats show, but for all their chances the game still ended 0-0. I suppose what I'm saying is Dublin lost the game rather than Tipp winning it. A cynical way of looking at it perhaps but that's how I see it

It was a great game. As the old GAA saying goes, goals win games. Tipp scored theirs and deserved the win.

Great result for football, and I'm delighted for the premier county as a Dub man.

I heard yesterday that a huge number of that Tipp team are underage again next year. Maybe someone else can confirm but if true, then they are a very special bunch. Dublin too have some fine players especially Kilkenny who looks assured of a place in the senior panel before too long.

No.5 Colin O'Riordan is 15. No 6 Dylan Fitzelle, 8 Stephen O'Brien, 9 Ian Fahey, 11 Philip Quirke, 21 John McGrath (I think), 23 Jason Lonergan, and Colman Kennedy (who scored the winning goal) is also. They've a few more subs as well (they won u15,16 and 17s Munster last year, which is well documented at this stage, so there's plenty coming through). Not sure if I omitted anyone of them that started.

Probably a bit harsh alright, it was just the bitter disappointment kicking in. My wife being a proud Tipp woman, and rubbing in this victory, also played its part! With the success of Sam, I'm over it now. Some great young players on both sides, and as you said they were a credit to their counties and clubs. Up Tipp and Up the Dubs too :)

    Answer here

It seems the majority were born in mid 1994 which would indicate they will be eligible next year. Liam McGrath the captain will be over age but i could see him starting for the under 21s along with Quinlivan who is also over the age. Both are brilliant

In Thurles this evening for homecoming. Good crowd outside the Cathedral and great athmosphere.
One of the players did a Festy and sang Galtee Mountain Boy ( is this the new Tipp anthem )
Anyone know who it was? Great voice!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,706 ✭✭✭premierstone

8 of the starting 15 and 9 of the subs are underage again next year, which unbelievably means that at least 2 of them wont make the first 15 next year

Many congratulations to Tipperary on a great win. Devastated for our fellas but ( and really don't want to be harsh on the young lads ) it was a little bit of selfishness and naivete in among our forwards that cost us the game and not one unfortunate error from young O'Hanlon in goal.

Been a common thread throughout the campaign but was masked by the results. Second half against Cork in the QF when the game was over, for long periods against Galway and again on Sunday when 3/4 points up some fellas seemed to have a desire to do it all by themselves when there were better placed colleagues available.

Not going to single any particular players out but watch the game again and you'll see several examples.

Hopefully this bunch of Tipp fellas will progress and bring a bit of interest back to the Munster Champo in years to come, as let's face it it has really become a snorefest in recent years.

What struck me as most impressive about Tipp was their comeback in the circumstances. In Croke Park, Dublin seniors playing the same day, and Ian Fahey who led them against Roscommon being completely marked out of it. Excellent stuff, showed great character and they also displayed their vast range of skills with some of the score taking, which would befit many Senior matches.

Unfortunately i wasnt at it myself due to college commitments but according to the Examiner it was John Meagher. Personally I would consider the Galtee mountain boy probably the second anthem behind Sliabhnamon but im not sure about the majority, although i never hear them sing TGMB at matches only Sliabhnamon.

Didn't see that incident at all and I was at the end of Upper Cusack right above the hill. If it did happen it was some isolated twit(s) as I was very pleased with the applause from Dublin supporters on the hill for Tipp minors. It was mostly Dubs where I was and although disappointed we were all on our feet acknowledging a fine performance.

While I despise the small portion of idiots who frequent the hill and who would be liable to do that type of thing, the Tipp young lads did themselves no favours with the signals they were making to the Hill, most of whom were very generous with their applause. I was in the Lower Hogan beside the Hill and there was a fair few players quite obviously making rather unsavory gestures. I saw 1 bottle thrown from the Hill but there could have been more.

Fair play to them all the same, a fine team who took advantage of the breaks on the day. The subs they brought on had a big impact and I was very surprised that Dublin left their best sub from the last day (Scully) on the bench until the last minute.

With such a young squad its hard to see Tipp being stopped next year if they keep their feet on the ground over the next 12 months.
