An ode to Joyce (contains bad language and a bad temperament)

My brother decided it was a good idea to engage me in a bet. The bet - €50 if I read Ulysses in one week. The result - an untimely descent in to madness documented below. I felt like I was getting mentally violated with every passing chapter. My apologies to all Joyce lovers... the man is beyond me.

The face you adopted for the heavenly ritual of flight
Set to lure meek heads in to a coven of fancy and f**kery
Enslaving, one by one, those ardent followers of folly
Through a relentless insouciant thrashing of their wits
Derision as bitter as your laughter
Which I swear I hear tinkling beyond Aoibhell's harp

A plaguing taunting hellion of delusional dispatches,
A gentle slaughter waiting for all who pray and prey on your words
    Welded you have me
In your ineluctable conflagration of exalted streams
Am I to drown too, amongst you allusions, collapsed under the seas of Mananaan?
A wager to waver my weary pate...
Your cursed diaphanous threads latching at the frays of my peace
An obdurate fiend with puppets of pen
    So warped you undo me
    Well go F**k yourself then!
