Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Absolutely. Definitely a large power difference, but the differentials and torque converters are different on the sport models, the 740i sport being the fastest of the lot.

No doubt, that's the pick of the bunch, only reason i'd want the V12 is for all the toys. The iL sport packages are only cosmetic, the i sports have the greater acceleration.

I didn't know that about the differentials and torque converters in the M-Sport. In plain language there's no added BHP but a better delivery of power? The 728 I drove was pre-facelift as I said and non M-Sport and I found it very unresponsive. Just like a pre-facelift 520 (2L model as opposed to the facelifted 2.2) I found it very underpowered and the engine seemed to small for the weight of the car. The 735 is a totally different beast altogether compared to that particular 728 although it could have had the ring driven out of it for all I know!

I wouldn't have any issue changing up to a 740 but the V12 750 would be completely impractical for me with current wallet conditions!

Exactly, a better delivery of power. Unless you were going for a Sport 740i, i wouldn't bother changing from your 735 to a regular 740, would be little point. Something like this ticks all the boxes. :D

I've wanted something with the Alfa V6 for a long while, but the amount of non-runners you see advertised, and stories of stupid repair bills means I probably won't be getting one.

Wouldn't be practical to me, even though it's a very fine car.

I went to view this at the weekend.

    no-image-large.gif

Saw this parked next to it

    no-image-large.gif&width=400&height=300

And completely blanked this on the other side as a result

    no-image-large.gif

    And just to reitterate

    no-image-large.gif&width=400&height=300

    And yes, its a 3.2...

Big cars can be a lot more practical than you think. What are you driving now? Have you worked out how much it costs you to run annually?

One of my friends had a fairly tidy 156 (01 or 02) for sale a while back. Drove it a couple of times - always left me feeling there was something missing in my own when I went back to it. There was - 800cc, 2 cylinders and a percussion orchestra...

Mazda6 MPS. I've only had it since May and to be honest, I don't bother working out how much it costs. If I did that I'd be on a bicycle!

See Voodoo's thread on running costs.

Work out your annual costs as follows:

    Petrol
    Tax
    Repairs / Service / Tyres
    Depreciation
    Loan Repayments

Have I left anything out Steeve?

He refused so I walked away.

I must be too practical, is that a complement to the OP or to the car?

Toyed with the idea of an RX-8 and I always had a hankering for an FTO, I knew a guy that had one and he was pouring money into it so put me off, always like the Mitsubishi eclipse 3rd generation, just never saw them
    here in R/H drive.

If I had the money I'd spend it on one now :D

when I was 18 i had a 2.5l Kia sorento , Im currently in a 3.0l d-max ,insurance was never higher than 1850, and I got a quote for 1700 fully comp on a 728i from aviva , im 21 , insurance isnt that bad if you shop around.

still nobody will let me have a 740iL or 750iL at the moment

Was always scared off the S2 as most of them had been ridden. Bought a sraight six 2.8 Quattro model in British Racing Green with cream leather in 2003 for €5k. Absolute demon of a car and handled like on rails. Never gave me a days bother bar a MAF sensor. Would love that car back, it was spotless and non pimped, really classy looking. Only older Audi I ever saw that didn't cost a shedload to maintain.

Yeah, the one I had was well equipped, looked amazing, but it was later obvious that it was driven hard before and was most likely clocked. There was something wrong with it every week.

Each of my cars has been a increment in power over the last - rover 400 to an MG ZR to a BMW 318i to the RX8 to the 6MPS.
