cowbell. Time for some classic rock and self indulgent oldies

Being a fan of Deep Purple I'm familiar with Steve Morses work within the band but had never got round to listening to any of his output with Dixie Dregs (terrible name guys) or his solo stuff. Anyway pleasantly surprised, Dregs have a varied sound but if you think 70s Jeff Beck solo fusion work mixed with slightly southern rocking vibe you won't be too far away

Speaking of solo albums, so often the dirty little secret of a famous band name, John Entwistle made some crackers. Anyone who knows the thunderous My Wife from Who's Next? will enjoy this from Smash Your Head Against the Wall 1971

Occasionally something will slip through the cracks as a side project, Gillan/Glover "Accidentally On Purpose" from 1988 is a good example. A light hearted diversion done quickly in the now destroyed AIR Montserrat studios of Sir George Martin it shows the pop sensibilities of both Purple veterans and suggests they could have had a quite different career if they'd chosen to.
